I’ll get the AC re-gassed and go from there then as I’ve not used it since early this year. I can’t remember it being this bad last year either, even when it was chucking coolant in the footwell.
I’ve spent the last 6 months or so chasing leaks in my 182 and think I’ve pretty much sorted them. However, with the cold weather at the moment, the windows steam up like mad overnight.
My recirculation flap has been stuck open since the summer and I’ve not been able to close it yet. Would...
Yeah, I’d echo what Dom and Arthur have said above and just go through the car with a fine tooth comb and seal up any of the usual areas. It’s just a process of elimination really!
I used a bit of butyl tape for the heater matrix and it seems to have sorted it. My heater matrix was also...
That’s very clean but I’m not sure anyone is willing to pay that sort of price for these yet?
The rusty top hoseclip on the coolant bottle needs changed.
Surely it’s got to be coming in from somewhere else as that is a serious amount of water.
I’d be checking all the usual areas if I were you. The seat bungs, rear light bungs, door seals, heater matrix, scuttle drains and making sure the drain holes in the sills are clear.
Can you see any tide...
This looks bloody brilliant and the results are pretty impressive. How is it holding up with the autumn rain/cold?
Really keen to do something similar but don’t want to risk condensation etc after chasing leaks in my car for the last 6 months haha.
Finally picked the car up last Saturday. Had a few issues sourcing parts and I also knocked a hole In the sump of my daily, so couldn’t get up to pick the Clio up for a week or so. The joys of country living (y)
Anyway, Barrie and the chaps at Rentec did a cracking job as always. Fresh MOT...
if you can afford to modify something, then surely you can afford to insure it? It’s not exactly cheap to modify stuff these days, unless its some dodgy bloke with a laptop remapping it.
Unless I boosted the tits off my 182, it’s not a huge a amount to insure. (4 years NCB @ £370 a year.) All...
Aye, I’ve noticed that. Arms fully outstretched and the seat as low as it will go (even if your 5ft).
Makes him look like a kid in some of those clips.
Check out his video with the Range Rover SVR. Racing through red lights and driving at the top end of 4th gear in a 30 zone.
He needs the book thrown at him.
‘Quality is genuinely unreal 100% fire’
f**k me, how can he type that as a 30(?) year old bloke and not cringe.
Both him and DMO are clowns. Was it DMO who had that car meet recently that shut down half the M60?
These are the blokes that put me off the local car meets. They write cheques they...
You've put some serious work into this recently, very impressive mate. Looking forward to seeing more updates.
Have you got a figure you're aiming for when you map it at EFI, or are you just wanting it to be sorted for the track?
Cheers mate, it’s getting there now.
Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s not the cheapest hobby to have either. I’d certainly look into a decent bike rack/mount and go from there. If you’ve got a daily motor, just use that as the bike wagon and run the Clio as and when you get the time.
Bit of an update on this.
Dropped the car on Friday at Rentec. Got a call Monday to say the 197 MC I had was for a left hooker. The connections were on the wrong side. The chap who was working on my car checked a couple of the 197’s in the workshop and they had their ports on the other side...
It’d be a shame to sell it after all the work you’ve put into it! Have you thought about a bike rack/mount? I run a set of Thule Aerobars for my MTB (admittedly not on the Clio) and they work well. The road bike fits in the back (like yours) but I just chuck a few rags down in the back.
You...
There was next to nothing available at the time (just before Xmas).
The standard stuff was eye wateringly expensive and on back order without a hint of a restock date. I looked at Koni/Bilstein B6/B8’s and they were all on back order for the foreseeable future.
I went with ST springs and...
Yeah, lesson learned there.
I went down and dropped off new shocks for the chap at the garage who did exactly that and replaced everything.
Most bolts had to be persuaded out with heat.
Par for the course when the car is ran in all weathers up here.
I nearly walked away when replacing the heater matrix in the Clio. What an arse of a job that is. Had to take half an hour out to calm down after trapping my fingers behind the crash bar a few times.
On my daily MK1 TT, the front springs snapped. I Started it, and then gave up. Everything was...
As always, a late update!
Here’s the brackets for the brakes @Romanian Tyre Fitter
Finished the rear beam finally. Big thank to @Romanian Tyre Fitter again for sorting me out with a set of rear beam brackets. Here are a few before and afters.
Sanded down and given a couple of coats of...
Trying to source a pair of rear beam brackets seems to be impossibly hard.
Does anyone know if the brackets from a PH1 172 will fit a 182? There’s one in my local scrappy, but due to Covid etc, you can’t have a look around.
Failing that, are the brackets the same on a cooking spec (1.4/1.2)...
Aye, they are divets chaps. They were proper beat when I got them. £140 for the pair, so I thought I’d take a gamble on them.
Should be tidy enough when mounted though (y)
MS Engineering.
They were proper knackered when I bought them and were cheap for a reason. Looked like they’re been kicked around the blokes garage for a few years, hence why the inner caliper has some heavy chunks out of it/chunks out of the mounting area. As long as it mounts fine, and stops...
Took it out for a drive for the first time in a week or two today and this popped up after round 20 miles. (Brother took this pic from the passenger seat, not me!)
Stuck in limp mode and limited to 2.5krpm. Plugged the code reader in and nothing came up. The previous owner changed the...
