Its not just down to the alloys, the original question was how to give the standard 172 some of the Cups attributes, there has obviously been some thought put as the chnage of the castor and the offset matched with the lower suspension will change the way the car loads up in to corners etc. not...
ghosting is not a problem, and font isnt too much of a problem provided it is still clear and satisfies the spacing and size regs, GT Grafix will do plates as you like but will only say the are for show use, they did mine for me, had them on the car for a year no probs whatsoever from the police...

so how do they change the geometry then?
dont know if I would go to the expense of new alloys (unless you want new alloys of course ) just to get the cups offset you should be able to get custom made spacers match to your hub for about £50 that would give you the 10mm additional of the front...
I keep thinking about cancelling my order for the Cup and getting something more in line with what I actually need, then I read articles like that and I think hmmm maybe I wont as it could be good.
I am a bit concerned about the noise though as I will be on the motorway a fair bit, anyone got...

Thats what I said at the top of the thread MC, sounds right to me so it could be done on normal 172 with spacers, again the castor not sure about you might be able to use shims to chnage but not having a clio yet I dont know whats possible, besides Ill have a cup so couldnt give a monkeys...

Perhaps I am not remembering the brochure correctly but I am sure it mentions increase track by 20/10mm not offset? Dont have it with me to check.
Cheers
I realize that with the cambor/castor as I said I typed it then wanted to slap myself as I realized what a dumbass I was being.
but the increased track is definately from wheel offsets front track is increased but 20mm (10 per side) and rear is 10mm (5 per side) at no point did I mention...

In fact I doubt lowering would have any effect on castor, god an edit function would be nice, so I could edit the bollox I just wrote
Thinking out aloud and just typing it....Doh
Cheers
course wheel spacers (10mm/5mm) could do this for you on standard alloys and obviously dont have a detrimental effect on the handling as that is effectively what Renault are doing.
The increased castor I couldnt say how they sorted it but could just happen from lowering maybe as that can...
in fact I think I got that wrong by adding to the offset you would reduce the track to increase the track you would reduce the offset soe front would be 38.5 and rear 43.5. feel free to correct me.
Cheers
the brochure says that the alloys have chnaged offsets to increase the track, wouldnt be as much as you reckon though as you added 40mm to front and 20mm to rear, the track is measured from the width between the two tyres.

drop a mail to that carfile one I mentioned he deals with UK dealers to get the discount etc. and the Renualt dealer works directly with you no dodgy import etc. car is delivered to your door and you pay on inspection of the car.
Cheers
Cheap UK sourced can be found from www.carfile.net youll basically get fleet discount on a UK vehicle more or less.
For import I have been looking at www.trade-sales.co.uk and www.motorpoint.co.uk where the 172 comes in under £12k which is pretty good, why did I put money down on a UK Cup at...

I have had a clutch go at 30k which cost me £600 and then it has been back a few times as the monkeys did a sh*t job but no nothing really, lots of tyres and brake pads have come and gone and I have had to replace the wishbones but not had a problem in almost 2yrs, and mine is approx 283bhp...
Those figures from parkers are a bit conservative, they are the figures from the Fiat brochure which are based on two people plus luggage, I have many car tests of all the Coupe models which better those figures, Ill put them on the web later if anyones inetrested.
Cheers
Your friend is correct the 2.0 16v Turbo is the Integrale unit and can be tuned very well, they are very good cars, I own the later 20v Turbo at the moment both cars are easily tunable to approx 280-300bhp without changing engine internals or even the turbo, just need a catless big bore exhaust...
