at 4k revs ur looking at all the valves valves being bent on the engine. mine went at 2k and bent 8 of them! the problem ur gunna ahve is getting a williams cylinder head second hand. if u rebuld ur existing head, itl cost a packet, 32mm williams valves r special order items from renault, and...
take the rad out, and reverse flush it with garden hose. do the same with engine block, make sure the water flows out nice n clear. fit a new thermostat, and make sure the air is beld out of the system properly. any anti-freeze will do, as long as its designed for mixed metal coolant systems...
the new box i fitted 2 weeks ago is leaking oil from the underside of box. its not the cv boot, as thyr fine. the oil is coating the selector mechanism area.
has any1 got any experience with cracked casing or leaks from the box?

the cylinder heads r the main difference between the two engines. megane runs 32.9 mm inlet valves whereas williams runs 32mm. the inlet ports on megane head r smaller, therefore using a different inlet manifold and throttle body setup. it also uses individual coils rather than distibutor...
i use an engine flush every few oil changes the wynns engine flush in a small tin contains mainly diesel witha few additives. i usually run the engine for a cupla days with it in. more often i use the engine flushing oil in a 5litre tub. i run the engine for about 30mins with it in. well...
all clio 16vs have a jb 3 series box with different bell hosuing to match the ally sump. the only other gearbox that is same is used on the 19 16v. the williams gear box runs same bell housing but different casing, with a beefier gear set. all other f series engines run a tin sump upto about...
the idler is there to route the belt in the rite direction basically. its in a tite place on the engine, so it very rarely gets changed. tricky on a 19 to do it with engine in, so it would prolly be even more difficult on a clio. worth changing tho, as wen it seizes the belt melts, and we dont...
its either the belt is too tight, or the tensioners r worn. even if theyr new, dusnt mean theyre any good!lol ive bought quite a few different sets of tensioners over the years, and its sometimes a case of pot luck as to wether its quiet or not.

they are exactly the same between the engines. gsf and euro use INA bearings, which to be fair are a pile of crap, thats why theyr so cheap. OEM stuff from renault use SKF bearings. these cost a bit more, but last the distance without constant whirring/whining. a local motorfactors should be...
yeah, the williams crank is lifted straight out the f8q diesel engine. listed as a Kangoo diesel crank on the renault parts database. ive seen williams in europe whivh have been chipped run upto 8k revs without internal mods, and they seem to handle it fine.
as for the engine conversion, if...
hmmmm, il stick my 2pence worth in here. ive gone from a modded 1.8 to a modded 2litre williams lump. id have the 2litre lump anyday of the week.
ive found the 2litre engine to be the best revver out of the two. sure it cnt rev to 8k, but it gets thru the rev range quicker than the 1.8 -...
uv probably got a bit of grit or small stone trapped inbetween the disc and pad surface, or the pads have worn down, or one of the rear pads have fallen out(this is a common prob!!).
as for the toy car noise, sounds like a wheel bearing to me

paul mitchell had a new rack on order from renault for a clio williams. had to be ordered from germany and was gunna take weeks to arrive. cost quite a bit of cash too if i remember rightly

ive always ran my pressures at 35psi in the fronts and about 40psi in the rears. i do 130miles a day (120 miles of those r motorway driving). i find this gives me good fuel consumption and the tyres last for years, although the ride is harsher than standard.

high oil pressure depends on a couple of things;
oil specification - whether its too thick or
oil pressure bypass valve - this works via a spring and plunger, when the oil pressure gets high enough, the spring strneght os overcome, and the oil is diverted back to the sump, before it reaches...
hmmmmm, thats odd, cus the williams uses the same oil pump a the diesel. the specs from renault rate the max oil pressure of the pump to 3.5bar at 3k revs. same as the 1.8 oil pump

the 2litre block casting is different. theres extra strengthening ribs on the surface, that way u cant fit the normal 1.8 starter. the small bodied motor is better anyway, 1.1kw output compared to the 0.8kw of the normal motor.

its not gunna make the idle dead lumpy is it? ive got wild cams and head work on the willy lump and it can chug sometimes, dont want it being real bad, as i no a ligthened flywheel can have that effect
