look at the front of block(under inlet manifold, next to gearbox). theres a metal tag riveted onto the face of the block. it should begin with f7...
if the three digit code ends in R, then that means ur running a 2litre. the number refers to the combustion ype of the engine, diesel...
i used low grade emery cloth working in a diagonal fashion up and down the bores. working in two directions i achieved a cross hatched pattern. there was minimal wear on the bores, no ridge at the top. all i did was a glaze bust.
the engine produced 230psi on all 4 pots on the compression...
all the tools required are available at halfords. piston ring compressor is 4quid, etc.
if ur getting bore wear, i.e. more than a thumb nails depth, get rehoned. u could go for a rebore, but 83mm wide pistons r custom spec stuff and cost an arm and a leg.
give it a rehone, professionally or...
hill power have produced the only decent tb conversion in the country so far. there megane/willy hybrid makes 220bhp. they have also produced there own inlet manifold, to allow the fitment to the megane head, and this also allows more space behind the front slam panel. u can then use velocity...
that kit seems to be jsut a plain webber alpha kit, which u can buy direct from them for about 1800quid i beleive. look in demon tweeks, they sell the kit.
ur not gunna get much power from it, max of 20bhp. this is due to the large ports of the "early" f type head. u need to nick hill special...
solid as a rock if looked after. if its been stood for three months, give it a full service, oil and filter change, new plugs, air filter and fuel filter. get it running sweet.

u can recon them, but to get to them, uv gota remove the cams, which means removing the cambelt, etc. not a big job for the mehcanically minded, but fiddly.

well the head was done by regal automotive a few years back(before i bought the head)- it had 1200quids worth of work dun to it. im running kent cams even tho the hill power chip is specced to run the piper versions. it runs the engine jsut fine, plenty of torque all over the rev range. wheel...
that high mileage williams engine is the one i bought matey(16v - 2.0) off paul mitchell a few months back. bottom end was in mint condition. i stuck in some new rings, bearings and seals. goes like a rocket

my williams engine had done 201k miles before it got rebuilt. and the conditon of it was mint-apart from the snapped cambelt. its now putting out quicker in-gear times in my 19 than a mk1 clio v6...read into that wat u will!lol

can anyone post up the perfroamnce stats for the clio 16v and williams, say from autocar road test. like the 0-x mph times, 50-70 in top, etc. cheers

there isnt a gasket available for the thermo housing, i always use renault thixo sealent, but i have used red gasket compound from halfords before-worked a treat.
jimbo
be careful fitting these to the old 16vs, as those headlights have the reflectors built into the lense glass itself, so any "angel eye" will disappear. only worth doing on the clear glass of the modern mk2 clios

the only way to shut off a diesel engine is halt the fuel flow. old diesels have a habbit of running on after the keys have been taken out ignition. it wud be a fuelling problem, injection pump, sumthin like that

ur looking at 300quid for the parts, and a weeks labour DIY. its easy peasy rebuilding an engine. did that with my williams lump - goes like stink
jimbo
im did run a williams ecu, but for some reason my engine didnt like it. so in the end i went for the hp chip. cost me alot, but the end goal was worth it.
yeah ul need to run the meagne starter, but that should come with it anyway. swap all the ancillary components from ur 1.8 to ur new 2litre block
