Yep, 172 one's a barely more than an extension of the roof, whereas the Cup has a raised lip and actually looks functional, liek the v6/trophy but they're straighter.
16 inch Cup Speedline Turinis are £106.38 with VAT from Renault.

172 spoiler is flat all the way from left to right pretty much. Black brake light visible from back and top of spoiler.
Cup spoiler has a curvy lip in the middle of it raising the profile higher and brake light is set inside the spoiler fully.
v6 Spoiler has a straight lip to it all the...
I traded my X reg (supposed 130 bhp model) in for my 172. I got £2600. It was immaculate and well looked after. It'll end up on someone's forecourt for about a grand more. £3500 for basically as hot a hatch as you can get or at least 172 performance for a snip.
:approve:
For all I love the...
Ridiculous that mate, sorry for ye.
Know it sounds a bit crap now but never leave anything at all on show. I don't even leave my gym membership card on the dash tray case anyone thinks it's a credit card. Nothing on display at all. But even then they could smash the window thinking...
To be honest Dean, I felt more confident driving the VTS quickly. Felt more agile, nimble, able to change direction faster.
172 feels a bit lumpy like a boat lol.
If I ever felt I couldn't afford the 172 for one reason or another I'd defo go back to a VTS.
NOTHING beats them, bang for buck.
GuyS, 'everytime' is not so.
That would really have to be two clone drivers one in each car with identical skills, then I'll grant you the 172 is quicker, like it is on paper.
How often do you get two identical set of circumstances? Both cars, going for it at the same moment, the same...
Yeah I've tried that mate.
It was restarting sometimes within 5 seconds of getting to the desktop, other times not for ten minutes or so.
Cheers though.
For the record, the VTS I had came with,
Twin airbags (2002 onwards had lateral ones too)
ABS
Electric heated mirrors
Electric windows
15 inch alloys
CD player
Rear headrests.
Not the most dazzling of spec but it's not a motorway cruiser is it. I refer you to my 'cheap, fast, fun'...
Have you actually ever driven one? Brilliant cars. Out handle a 172 anyday. I've had a VTS and now the 172. To be honest I like the 172 as the all round car but for thrills the VTS wins hands down.
I'm not so snobby that I was ashamed to be in a Saxo. So what. More fun seeing people's...
Yeah but they do exactly what it says on the tin; cheap, fast, fun car. Underestimated by so many fools. Like GuyS says, different cars. You're not really comparing like with like if you talk of all the interior stuff. Performance wise they are fairly well matched up to daft speeds. Round a...
Leave the mirror mounts and fog surrounds black.
It'll look too silver and soft. A bit of black, proper black looks good on a car.
Bit of contrast breaks things up and shows off the details of a car. All one colour and everything blends together too much.
IMHO of course.
Also, I will say, yeah you're unsure about gambling on a new car, but sometimes in life ye have to gamble.
My VTS was sweet and well looked after but I chose to get rid of it while it was like that and not costing me money.
Yeah you know the history of your car and not that of a new one...
Mate, I'd get a new car if it were me. I just found myself getting hit with bills for my old RT every month.
You can buy warranties for cars. About £300 for a year.
Only you know what's best but I was happier once I got rid of the RT and drove something newer, bit more credability and...
Well, I've tried taking both sticks of her 256 mb out before and replacing it with my 512 mb and not made any difference.
However, I tried this again yesterday and it seemed to be stable for an hour or so so I gave her it back.
Touch wood it's ok thus far but I doubt it'll stay like that...
My old X reg VTS was rapid. To be honest I think it was quicker than my 172. I remember having a few tussles with 172s and one with a Cup, I was all over the Cup (surprisingly) and the 172's were not much trouble.
Sure not everyone can make the most out of their car but the VTS is a rapid...
Personally, I'd trade it in. £600 would go some way to a deposit. You then hopefully have a car with some warranty.
I needed £400 of work to my old RT but traded it in against a VTS with two years warranty. I got a generous £700 for the RT. Broke my heart come trade in day. A day in the VTS...
I'd say clutch would be around £100-150 supplied and fitted, never had it done on my old Clio.
Cambelt, head gasket, and water pump can get done together so I'd say about £300.
Alternator £80 supplied and fitted (exchange your old one)
Gearbox, reconditioned supplied and fitted probably...
Lol, nah I'm not at all mate. Just had it long enough now for the novelty to have worn off slightly and being picky about a few things. I didn't catch up with your thread, yours ok now mate?
Fronts look good.
Get yourself a phase 2 grille too. Smartens/modernises the front end tons.
Is that an RSi? Looks very similar to my old red RT. It's in the image gallery section. Would have loved to have stuck white alloys on mine.
They look pretty good but look quite big in the first pic (not just because it's in deep snow) but small in the side on pic. Are they 15's?
I'll keep an eye out for ye, I'm from Shields too.
I'll stop telling my mates I've got leather seats then!
Oh and cruise control is pointless, the nights are getting lighter so no one will see my xenons, I can't rag the car like I did my VTS because it drinks petrol, lol trade it in for a 1.2 I think!
Hmm, ok I'm pretty much convinced. If that's the case, there's not much actual real leather on the seats at all then is there?
It's just my old Saxo VTS supposedly had Alcantara seats and yet they felt nothing like the middle bits on the 172.
Unless there's different types of Alcantara...
Hmm, I'm not entirely convinced. Rich, I'll go along with you so far as to say Alcantara is a man-made suede-like material but not man made suede. But is there any actual proof ie from Renault like in a brochure?
I've not had leather seats before nor ever been one for buying leather/suede...
