    clicking under braking...

dan, it's only under braking and at slow speeds. My original post wasn't so clear, reading it now. I think it is the pads, and i'll have to get the copper slip on them. Or just ignore it! Thanks. John

    Mobil 1 for my 172?

I've got 2 litres unopened. Renault used to give me a litre at service. If someone wants to swap them for a few beer tokens let me know.

    clicking under braking...

Like I said it went in for a service and they gave it the once over, they found my rear springs had snapped (like they do) but that was it... I'll have a look at the CV joint, but I think they'd have noticed that. It's a good little indie garage who serviced it.

    clicking under braking...

i've got new discs and pads on front. Have been on a few months i guess. The front and back have been checked at service last week. I get a repeated ticking noise from o/s when window is open and under braking. Mainly at slow speeds. Not loud enough to really concern, but is bugging. Sounds like...

Does it cost a shedload to run a 172

yeah they're budget pocket rockets. Indicated 35/36 mpg all day every day. Fastest, best handling AND cheapest car i've run!

Does it cost a shedload to run a 172

no nasty suprises really. Get ready to buy new front tyres ever 10k i reckon, and obviously replace stuff that falls off.

wheel bolts wouldn't go back in!

cheers for the comments chaps. I thought you weren't really supposed to grease wheel bolts. Maybe a dab of copper slip, just so they won't seize.

172cup, poverty spec was least of his worries!

Just out of interest, what's the ratio of cups to ff's being written off. Just makes me wonder,.. Seem to see a lot of cups in trouble. Can people not cadence brake?

my RS tuner power graph (197)

Your car's only designed to run on 98 RON max (correct me if I'm wrong), so a higher than 98 ron fuel wouldn't add any power, and like I said you would need to use a higher ron for a few tanks before seeing any change (again correct me if I'm wrong). Furthermore I think you lose more bhp via...

my RS tuner power graph (197)

^Yeah,.. If it's at the wheels, it's prob about right. 112.45KW = 150.8 bhp, so there's no problem there mate. Try it on V-Power after a few tankfulls, would be interesting to see the difference, if any.

    ADVICE ABOUT EIBACH PROLINES

Can anyone help me, I need a set of new springs. My mechanic told me today that my rear springs have snapped, as we all know that's a common occurence. I've fitted new springs and shocks to my last BMW, but no longer have the patience or many of the tools to do it again. So I'm going to...

    clicking noise

Def. sounds like a cv just starting it's to go. I've got an itermittent clicking when breaking, esp. in stop start traffic jams. Told the mechanic at service and he had a look, found nothing wrong and couldn't hear it himself. Anyone got any ideas?

    Nokia Push Email

no it's push email. It 'pushes' the mail from the server instantly to your phone. Nokia's version, doesn't work for me tho. I used to have mail2web workin quite well on my old windows mobile phone.

    Sky to Freesat

Sky gave me 4 months of basic sky tv and internet for free. to evaluate freesat. So I sold my sky box for £30 on eBay and bought the humax hd box. Plugged the new box into my old dish and bob's your uncle! Even comes with a free HDMI. Still use the sky internet and will cancel my...

    Sky to Freesat

I've cancelled my Sky subscription and jumped over to FREESAT. I bought a HUMAX FOXSAT for £149 from Argos. BBC HD is immense, 1080i and DD 5.1. All the SD stations are received/upscaled to 576i, which is massively better than I've had from Sky. ITV HD isn't as good as the Beebs, they seem to...

    Cruise control

Wish mine had it too. Bloody love cruise when you're on the M'way with 200 boring miles ahead. Can it be retro fitted with a new steering wheel and stuff? Probably more hassle than it's worth.
