Got my upper inlet back from powder coat, so that's now fitted, along with plugs/leads and final bits of pipework.
Still waiting for the Downpipe and AEM FIC ECU :(
Due to the Floating Cam Pulley's and Crank Pulley, the timing could be off by any number of degree's not whole teeth.
As said before it's vital to use cam pulley locking tools when tightening the pulley bolts/nut or the cams will likely move, or sometimes actually bend the cam locking tool/bust...
Quick Update...
Cam Seals and Cam Nut and Bolt Turned up today, along with my catch tank.
So now the engine is timed up and back on it's mounts, I've fitted the catch tank (waiting for a length of silicone hose for it)
Also got all the boost pipework in and moved the power steering pipe to...
I've been trying to work that out actually, I can't make the standard compression ratio tally up (assuming Bore = 82.7mm, Stroke = 93mm and the original gasket is 0.65mm)
Tar
KTR/Vibra-Technics Mounts are on order, but the engine actually sits a little further forward when it's on it's mounts, the timing belt end is propped up on blocks of wood atm.
It's a Cometic 0.075" (1.9mm in English) Gasket.
Thanks. :approve:
As I'm currently in the process of going turbo, and I plan to use the car for track days, I'm fitting a Oil Temp and Oil Pressure gauges so I can keep an eye on things.
But I have no idea where to mount them, initially I had a single gauge pillar pod with just oil pressure, but I've decided...
Well I was hoping to receive most of the Turbo kit on Friday, but due to a late delivery of gaskets my order wasn't dispatched until Friday, fortunately the guys at Engine Dynamics made arrangements for a Saturday Delivery, so I didn't have to wait until after the bank holiday weekend :)
I'm...
I only realised you had links with ClioTurbo.co.uk after I'd ordered the bits... Doh! I may give you a shout next year if I decide to go forged, as I've got a spare bottom end on it's way to me!
Got some heat shield on the way, cheers for the tip!
Sender was from eBay, if you get VDO gauges...
Yeah I'm a maintenance electrician.
Was looking at the rear beam kit from pure earlier actually, if I'm honest I could probably make those weld in pieces my self anyway... For the time being I want to leave the suspension how it is and make changes one at a time so I can actually appreciate the...
Forgot you had a Clio!... The shift light is a bit technical, and turned out to be harder than I thought on a Clio with it having no direct RPM signal to the clocks and the coil pack being negatively switched... I'll get some photos/circuit diagrams up soon.
The golf went just over a year ago...
I never normally get round to doing build threads, but whilst I'm waiting for parts I thought I'd start one.
I bought the car a couple of months ago with some braking issues, which now appear to be corrected, and dispite just wanting the car initially as a cheap motor I can do the occasional...
Hi,
I bought a blue 172 Cup a month or so ago, and was wondering if anyone knows it as one of the previous owners at least was a member on here (got tax disc holder etc)
The plate is HT53 HAO
The car came with lots of receipts, but I keep finding other little goodies, so i'm looking for a...
Whilst investigating further I took the front Hoses off when I blew all the fluid out of them a small piece of crud came out the right hand front.
After flushing them and putting it all back together it appears to be braking straight again... altho I need to test further as it was raining...
Its looking like it might be the rear brake compensating valve... the side of the valve that controls the rear drivers side looks to be in a poor state, so the rear drivers side has low effort and because of the diagonally split circuit the front passengers side is getting the extra force that's...
Hey,
Not had my 172 Cup long now, but when I got it the brakes were a joke, so it had new discs and pads all round, braided hoses, fresh fluid, and new seals etc on the front calipers, (the rears are also nice and free).
However now under reasonably heavy breaking from speed (country lane...
I bought a Clio 172 Cup a few weeks ago and noticed in the paperwork a receipt from k-tek for a pair of genuine cup rear dampers, but I noticed the body of the Strut is yellow, on most pictures I've seen there black.
The front dampers are black.
Do I have the correct rear dampers?
Hi, just thought i'd say hello,
I was looking for a cheap car to do a few track days and fun road driving after selling my GTi-6 converted Pug 205 Track Car and slightly regretting it.
So I picked up a 2003 172 Cup with 73k on the clock, and a few goodies from K-Tec already fitted.
It needs a...
