Re: Dave.'s Trumpeted Engine Spec, Cammed Up Gunit, 2118'd Carbon Vagina Boob obsessi
Really interested to see how this turns out as this is the spec I'm thinking of going for.
Good luck mate, hope you get what you're looking for!
Correction- the interior fans are working but when the lights are on none of the dash lights up. Checked all the fuses in the engine bay and they are all fine.
Think it's defo the ecu. How hard is it to swap one over?
Do you need to do anything in to get it to work.
Fitted a new battery last year. All the fuses are ok but I have been have problems with some of the relays lately.
Yes it is the interior fans I mean.
Rains off now so going for a looksy.
Yeah tried dosconnecting the battery and even with the recovery trucks jump started there was no life.
Where would I find the uch fuse? Worth a try.
There is no electrics working ie central locking, interior light, hazard lights, fans, etc.
Does this sound like immobiliser or something else...
Driving home from work tonight giving it some beans and everything is fine when I stop at halfords to get some tooling. When I return to the car and try to start, nothing. Lights on the dash light up but the car doesn't even attempt to start. Headlights and the radio still work but nothing else...
Had this on mine many years ago and ended up being a power steering hose that was deemed to small a dia and so changed for the the larger 182 type. Seemed to do the trick but it was in and out the garage for this issue on at least 10 occasions.
Had this on my car at about the same mileage. Got it checked under warranty as I thought it was the release bearing on it's way out. Seemed to stop squealing after the car had warmed up.
Ended up not being the bearing itself but was dirt and s**t in the bearing and so not covered under...
I've got 3 set of wheels for the car. 2 x sets of turinis and now a set of PR 1.2's so can take the slicks and another set if its going to be wet.
Thought £160 was a good deal but if I cant use them anywhere whats the point. Knockhill is my closest track so thats where they will be used...
Been offered 4 Hossier grooved slicks for £160 brand new in 205 45 R16's.
Worth a shot or not?
Spoke to others about slicks on trackdays and they say there is no requirement for a cage but I may have trouble with fuel and oil surge. Anyone running baffled sumps?
Does anyone know where the Alarm ECU is located on a 172 Cup?
Renault have come back to me saying "we have heard back that it is located behind the battery on the passenger side of vehicle" and so I replied, "is that not the actual ecu for the engine" in which they replied "is it not the same...
I would drop the level as brake fluid expands when it is heated and can overflow on the exhaust manifold and possibly catch fire (worst case). Drop it to the max level with a large syringe when cold.
It's meant to stop the octane rating of the fuel being lowered by the oil vapour and so reduce the chance of detonation.
Not such an issue on a N/A engine but as you say, every little helps.
How many of you are running with oil catch tanks?
I know it's a worth while mod on a turbo'd car but is it worth it on a N/A?
I've got a spare tank and hose and think I'll fit one this weekend.
More chance of kerbing but at that saving it would be worth it. I changed from 195's to 205's on the cup years ago when there was very little between them but may have to go back if thats what they are at now.
Check the rubber dust seals round the sliders. If they have popped off their grooves or a damaged then dirt and salt can get in causing them to seize. I bought a second hand set of front calipers (£10), stripped them (£free), sandblasted them (£5), painted them with caliper paint (£5) and fit a...
