Yeah , it seems to fluctuate between £86-£90. Still havent quite worked out why they are showing some at a much higher price as well. Wondering if the more expensive one's ( which I would guess not too many people are buying ) are older stock which they bought in at a higher price and therefore...
If they were selling these at £78 a wheel which is the RRP, and still the price of them on some places on e bay, which adds up to over £300 a set would you still be turning your noses up at them. They are obviously end of stock prices just to shift them. Too many wheel and tyre snobs on...
Finally had a chance to try these on track on the front of my Clio. Had them on the back for 3-4 trackdays and they are good, take a little bit of time to warm up , but fine.
On the front.... well they definitely arn't 888's. Did a couple of sessions around Brands last night , Nankangs ( 120...
The model I bought are at cheapest £34 each on e bay ( and a rrp of £78 ), so I havent lost out really, and despite the fact I agree cheap wheels can be of a lower quality and standard and in some unfortunate ( usually when misused ) circumstances fracture, the fact is I have been using a set of...

Nice spot, just bought a brand new set of four of these for £101. Cant go wrong really, you could knock these out on e bay for more.
Just noticed I bought the last four, result.
Is your exhaust hanger ok ? If the rubber has perished that can cause the backbox to move enough to make a noise and its very close to the left rear wheel. Other than that check your calipers, shock springs etc.
For track use yes 15's are better. Handles better and tyres are cheaper. 17's are just silly on a clio (IMO) , probably foul the arches. Personally its 15's only , road and track .
I have the soft (120) compound and I have to say when at the recent Bedford day I did have real trouble getting any temp at all in the Nankangs ( on the rear ) , but it was raining most of the time and cold.. However I have also used them at Brands and Donington on dry warm days in combination...
Even better they've dropped to £86.90 now. Buy a cup of tea with that 70 pence.
For anyone worried that the compound isnt mentioned, they are definitely gg (med) as I have 2 on my spare wheels already and a mate has just had 4 delivered this week.
If you are using 15" wheels, mytyres.co.uk are doing 888's in 195/50/15 gg compound( medium ) for £87.60 delivered each at the moment if price has any bearing on your choice.
Is that including delivery ? As Camskill do these in that size for £64.99 +postage.
Have got a set of these myself I use for trackdays ( mainly on the rear ) , out sunday on them at Snetterton actually. Have been quite impressed so far.
Been very tempted to go the full slick route myself, the only warnings I've ever been given are dont even consider it without some kind of a cage, and it WILL put a lot more stress on the chassis and extended parts ( bushes, bearings etc ) so they will wear/fail a lot quicker. My mates got some...
Original cup is et35 I think so 37 would actually sit in a couple of mm. Sometimes its just the style of wheels that makes it seem like they are sitting differently, also depends on width of wheels , how much spokes etc sit proud of rim. If they fit and dont rub/foul just go with it.
I bought a couple of cheapo ( 15 quidish ) speakers from Halfords (4 inch things with orange trim, look quite good ), and made up a couple of light weight panel covers where the rear speakers originally were, and mounted them in there. Dont even bother with the front ones now (inc the tweeters )...
Was collecting at scrap metal merchants opposite Eurospec in Guildford today and spotted a Mondial blue 52 plate cup ( very similar to my own ), caged, buckets, stripped, black team dynamics rims.
Anyone's on here?
I assume was having some engine work done as bonnet was popped open .
I'd be interested in another Cliosport trackday meet up (did the Bedford day last week and was good having a load of clio's to play with ). Am doing Snetterton ( 4th time there ) in a couple of weeks and can confirm its a much more enjoyable track than Brands.
For some reason Brands just...
Get a trolley jack underneath the rod end and jack up until there is a lttle bit of pressure on it , it then stays still so that you can spin it right off. If you're jack doesnt go high enough, put something between it and the rod end to fill the gap, we used the slider bit out of an axle stand.
Thought I'd do a quick update. Just picked up 2 of these in 195/50/15 from my local DPD depot, attempted delivery was yesterday. Ordered monday evening so not bad timewise considering they came from Budapest via Hanover.
As for the tyres , all seems well , GG compound ,100 tread wear rate...
Ahem , why not? But petrols ok is it? Methylated spirits does exactly the same thing as petrol, breaks down the glue. I used to work in the signfitting industry and used to vinyl windows etc, and everybody uses meths to remove and clean surfaces of old glue residue and such like. It works...
Meths , elbow grease and patience.
No seriously methylated spirit will break down the glue, just use maybe a microfibre cloth and keep on rubbing in little circles on small bits at a time.
