ahh, well theres a garage in the mansfield area who did my dads 182 for £300, but one lad will do it cheaper on a saturday afternoon at the garage, he does all my work and is top notch!
it'll be hard to give advice on the engine conversion without seeing the engine and the work required on it.. so is the engine in the car now but not running? or do you need to put the engine in?

how old are the spark plugs? cheack the cheapest things to replace before things like coil packs ect, you could have old or dodgey spark plugs that aren't igniting the fuel at idle,
im new to this "pops and bangs" map, i cant see if having a massive affect when using a stealth system ie the k-tec stealth exhaust when it isnt a "straight through" exhaust which will allow the flames and gasses to come straight out with a bang... what exhausts are people using with this map...
