Haha yeh i thought i might get away with it, but as soon as i dropped the car back onto the floor and the tyres where sat right up against the bumper i realised i was wrong!
Ill get a pic of the wishbones tomorrow, fittment on a mk2 would be fine as they have less castor than 172 cup wishbones...
Cup racer wishbones are somehwere intween cup and non cup wishbones, the outer hole sits pretty cental. I can get a pic if people are interested.
I fitted Cup wishbones on my Williams when i put the 172 widetrack on and you can tell there is a massive increase in castor as the lip on the inside...
Well i payed just over £900 delivered to Jersey for the two and shipping was pretty expensive. But yeah subframes deffo need strenghtening, they crumple like tin cans. I have even thought about having a custom CDS one made up.
Just higher quality materials, strong splines im guessing.. Could easily have cheaper ones made up by somewhere like Dave Mac props etc. Still need drive flanges though really i think there around £120 each.
The Fuchs is on special offer at the moment thats why, its normally £15 a litre, Im going to get some more in stock while its cheap. Weather there any better than eachother i dont know. All i know is it made the world of difference to the Amsoil shite i was given with the car.
Yeh there semi helical, the ST-75 is a better design for sure. But considering when i bought my car a 172 cup road car was going for about 5k and I bought my car for 10k, thats with a lower final drive already fitted and 4 pot brakes etc it was a no brainer at the time. Certainly go for an ST75...
Any chance you could let me know what type it is? and ill look up the specs, if its cheap enough ill prob change to what your using.

What version of the manual do you have? I have the 2003 edition and it doesnt mention anything about what type oil to use.
I use Silkolene Silktran SYN 5 75w-90 which works about £30 and oil change, thats what i was recomended to use by a number of people.
Haldex is definitely better than just fwd, with a race controller you can get upto a 50/50 split from what ive read and it also cuts in alot easier i.e: it will send power to the back wheels if you are aggressive on the throttle rather than in standard form when the front wheels start to slip...
Im pretty sure the STDSA was designed for the Grp A Clio Williams/Megane though, they just happen to use them in the race car as the ST75 hadn't been released when the UK clio cup started. Eitherway bit of an annoying design flaw, but as you say should be fine for most rallies. Just have to keep...
Seems feasible but you would think a gearbox that was designed to go on a Group A rally car would be able to cope with one though rally. But obviously not lol
Be good to see what you do about a cooler. Was thinking of fitting myself at some point.
Dont block it off, its meant to vent to air (or when connected, to the engine). The only one your meant to block off is the pipe that goes into the valve.
Its a FWD car what do you expect lol, Its going to understeer when you push it hard. As for 55psi in the rear tyres? no one with any knowledge or car setup would run that high. I wouldnt run more than 30psi, i normally run 28psi.
Ah thats shitty luck mate, be nice to know what went wrong with the box once they open it up. Have you thought about how reliable the box is going to be with 250hp+? the boxes are only rated to 179 lbs/ft if i remember correctly.
The thing is my Williams doesnt look any wider with cup stuff on the front than one with just normal 172 parts, only thing that looks different is the castor. Maybe its the added castor the creates the need for a slightly longer shaft? as the distance from the hub to the box would effectively...
Ive compared both sets of hubs at a glance and they look identical, weather they measure different i dont know. Looks like im going to have to let my bumper get a rapeing then haha.
Will 172 Cup shafts work with standard 172 wishbones then? Im pretty sure there is no track difference between the Cup and normal 172, the cup wishbones just have more castor bulit into them.
