    Talk cameras to me?

Canon S100/110/120 is also in the same class as the LX7. The Sony rx100s have a relatively huge sensor and are in a class of their own. All of these are probably more than is necessary. I used a Panasonic FH1 for many years and for the price it is superb. Very compact and quite cheap. The...

Housekeeping and tidy up of an iMac - sanity check?

Do a full time machine backup, make sure nothing has been excluded. Then do the disk format and is install. During the install you will be prompted to restore from a time machine backup. Easy. To be honest, just install the latest version. No need to nuke everything.

    Aux belt slip, PAS squeal

The power steering flex pipes may be restricted and need changing. IIRC the 182s and possibly late-172 (with ESP) have a different, higher capacity power steering flex pipe that can be retro-fitted to the older 172s.

    The Giro Cup Holder

This has been done before. This kind of thing is very common on sailing boats. Usually the whole stove is on such a gimbal so cooking can continue while the boat is leaning or moving through swell.

    Finally got myself a clio..

I'm a dad and bought a 172 for my 2 sons (aged 21 & 23). My advice is DO NOT LET HIM DRIVE THE CLIO otherwise you will never get to use it for yourself. :) They are great cars. Also IMHO resist the temptation to spend money on mods. They are great cars from stock. Save your cash for good...

    Clutch help

To test the clutch, put it in 5th (or 6th) gear and with your foot hard on the brake, release the clutch. No need to rev the engine hard or anything. Of it stalls immediately them clutch is good.

    172 Stock Headunit. Line-in options?

The 182 uses a different canbus to the 172 hence the head units not compatible.

Can I get pulled for having "stupidly bright" xenons?

The headlights need to be manually adjusted to the correct "unloaded" position. After that the levellers (manual or auto) are used to lower the beams to adjust for load. Is the op using xenon hid lights, or the normal halogen lights with "xenon" blue bulbs in them?

Will this work in a standard headunit (Audio)

If you have a 182 it has the "Update List" head unit as stock. This can take an AUX input, available on eBay cheaply. No need for connects2 boxes to replace the cd stacker unless you want more integration.

    From a 1.2 to a 182!

Check when the belts were done, they need changing on age as well as distance. Assuming 4 years service life they should have been done twice now.

Love a clean work van. (Flamer content)

Can you post some pics of the inside of the rear. Nothing like this ever came to Australia. It looks really interesting.

Knocking whilst at a complete stop??

Sounds like engine run-on after the ignition is cut, and the rough running is banging engine mounts.

    Clio Timing Chain??

Belts go snap quite often. The PO of my car had the belt snap, ironically while it was in a non-specialist mechanic shop being serviced for aircon. It had head work and a new belt put on but the pulleys were not done. I had the whole lot changed when I got it, to be sure. People seem to...

Cub's Flamer - Supercharged, Cage etc

Re: Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc When you lower the car the suspension points on the wheels move up relative to the body, these things move them back down again. One line. In oz these would need an engineering certificate to be road legal. What's the case in the uk?

    Clio Timing Chain??

I don't think there are any chains on the f4r engine. Belts are quieter, easier to fit but put more load on bearings and have shorter life.

Errr no. That joke is probably older than you. :)

    Clio Timing Chain??

The big difference is the Nissan lump is turbo. F4R is normally aspirated and has gone about as far as it can with regards to getting performance out of it. The market now wants turbo too.

    Clio Timing Chain??

Do they stock VW Beetle water pumps as well? The Clio II and III engines use belts not chains. I dunno what the turbo engine in the Clio IV uses.

Sticky dash happens to Aussie Clios too. Alcohol cleans it. Just watch the stock head unit the writing on the front gets taken off too. :)

    172 Stock Headunit. Line-in options?

The 172s have the "Tuner List" head unit. These have no connection options. Only choice is to replace the cd stacker with a Connects2 that will allow iPod connection. Alternatively install a parrot Bluetooth adaptor which allows iphone connection by by-passing the stock head unit. The 182s...

    Steering wheel...

172 thumb grips are rubber not leather. If you don't like that then see about getting it refurbished with a full leather cover. EDIT I just re-read the post. If your wheel does NOT have rubber grips then it had been refurbished already. Not a bad thing because they were probably broken...
