Standard 172 wishbones, not cup. Are adjustable top mounts interchangeable between brands? I have BC coil overs, but BC don't do adjustable top mounts for the clio 172. Can I fit AST ones?
Cheers
Well done to all of you who have taken pride in your cars, I wish I had the patience:smile:
The car has changed a bit in the 6weeks since I took these, but you get the idea.
Hello,
After fitting BC coilovers and poly bushes all round, the caster of the front wheels has increased by a noticeable amount. Normally this would be a good thing, but not in my case. The car is a track car and unless I raise the suspension up much higher then I would like the wheels rub...
As your in Essex give Bob a ring at Torque of the South Motorsport in Southend. He can sort that out and maybe give you some advice on some other mods for the future. He has just bought himself a 197 so he can race me in my 172. His number is 077 2336 1027 tell him I sent you and that you are on...
Afternoon,
I have been working on the car today and noticed a broken blue connector just above where the gearbox meets the engine. I tried to fix the problem by removing the connectors and taping them back in place until I could get a replacement, but now I can't get them back on.
What is it as...
when my tyres need changing I will get 45's as Im also trying to lower the car more as well But i'm hitting clearance problems as my new suspension has increased the caster which means the wheel is hitting the arch further forward. I think I will just end up grinding out the bit of the arch that...
As per title, I am looking to get the smallest wheels I can on mine to improve acceleration (at the cost of top end) in preparation for my next Brands Hatch Indy track day.
I have 15" Superleggeras, but would like to get some 14", but want to know if they fit first.
Cheers,
Tim
As he said, I made the same mistake trying to do it on my own. This is an excellent method though. I used the rubber hose for the windscreen washers (off a spare bonnet)
Also tape or cable ties the hose attachment to a screwdriver to make sure you can grip it easily, see my picture

We are going to need a bit more interest to make this viable, so start enticing your friends to come a long so we can meet the minimum number required.

Well mine turned out to be an £8 ball joint and the top engine mount. The engine mount must have been the problem to start with and since I upgraded the suspension, added poly bushes etc all the vibration and stress of track days has been passed down to the old ball joint which gave up and added...
I have a similar problem on mine (2*1) if I get time tomorrow I will swap out the steering rack with a spare one i've got. My guess is that its something to do with the power steering, maybe a valve letting go that adjusts between the high and low speed response of the power steering pump?
I...
Had a look today and it seems simple enough. Will have a go tomorrow afternoon weather permitting. Cheers for the help guys, I will post my results when Ive done it.
Once we have 12 or so people who are genuinely interested I will book in a date to suit as many people as possible.
On a side note, my mate Bob who runs the garage with the dyno had a go in my clio at Snetterton 300 on Thursday and loved it so much he has decided to go any buy one himself. He...
I ran out of time today to get it done, but I will try again in the week. that like is exactly what I am looking for @Dr Jekyll , Cheers. Theres a karting event on for the essex lot soon (link below) if you are up for it @Dr Jekyll . Would be good to meet you, you've been pretty helpful to me so...
As per title,
Trying low lower the steering wheel no I have a low bucket seat, going to have a look tomorrow afternoon and see if it can be done. Has anyone done it before or got any tips?
Cheers,
Tim
