I can't argue with others comments regarding track days. One track day in my Cup and it had developed a nice growl under load and felt so much happier on the drive home. Same with the 182 before it. Enjoy the engine when the time comes I haven't seen a Smokey Sport yet despite all the knackered...
Re: Biting point is at the top, very slight slipping. How long till it completly goes
Fingers crossed for you. I also nursed a Peugeot 106 clutch with what turned out to be a broken cushion spring location for a couple of years (i don't do huge mileage as I cycle a lot) after my business...
Re: Biting point is at the top, very slight slipping. How long till it completly goes
How long is a piece of string. My mum has now done 10k on a clutch in a TDCI focus that was slipping if you asked for any chunk of grunt. Avoiding slipping the clutch as much as you can and peak torque is all...
So many factors. If it's well run in and has lost that tightness most modern engines suffer from when new, has just been serviced and is running on good fuel who knows. Be prepared to be shot down in a Sun sized ball of flame if it makes good power though. It's why I won't dyno mine no-one...
I think there was a clamp on the linkage on mine a few inches back from where the gearcchange linkage connects to the gearbox linkage which may allow some rotation to change the sideways position of the stick if someone has had it apart and moved it but I haven't investigated this myself and I...
172 Cup with a 172 rear damper and a 75k Cup rear damper. Not really a matched pair! New cup dampers waiting to go on, bubbled caliper paint needs to be scraped off or repainted after track day, minor kerbing on alloy to touch up (fail on my part as works van has balloon tyres and I was on auto...
Let me know as mines only weeping at the moment which is fine but it's sure to get worse. I've read people have had mixed success with the tnd kit.
Type what I said into eBay as I'm not sure if it's just the one seller.

Is the one I've seen on ebay that looks very similar to the selector shaft seal kit. Is that the one your after.
Type in "mapco repair kit gear lever"
Sorry if that's not what your after!
It's great that the club still has enthusiasm but bear in mind that some members are just not in a position to come to meets. My Clio sits on the drive most of the time for a reason. I take it for a drive at most once a week at un-godly hours to keep the cobwebs out so I don't encroach on family...
Just did a track day on standard discs and pads in a standard car (172 cup) 2 up and all was good. Cooked the caliper paint and bubbled the anthracite paint job on one wheel in the middle. On the brink of locking up most of the time, no trail braking as we're rubbish again from no recent track...
Gearbox mount centre pin has a nut under the gearbox support than can come loose and the two bolts for the mount can drop down and can leave you having to take the whole of the upper gearbox mount system apart. Not too much of arse just takes a bit longer. The centre nut can be a bit of a sod...
Have the caliper apart, give it a clean and check it all moves as it should and is seated fine if you suspect brakes. Then if it doesn't go away you can start looking at the suspension. Get the weight off the wheel and inspect the bushes. If there is the ability to apply a little pressure to a...
I'd be surprised if there was any benefit to fitting a whole exhaust to the car. If you must then fit a good quality back box if you want a more interesting exhaust note. Save the money for fuel, repairs and a good set of tyres.
My standard 172 cup has no Kick just that you notice it's pulling better from 5k. Has a love affair with the limiter that requires a constant eye on the rev counter. Usual N/A power band. Respectable, useable but not quick in the lower half of the rev range. Reminded of that by a re-mapped 160...
The ends are chamfered. It's supposed to help stop squealing as far as I knew!? My mum's standard mintex pads in her focus were the same and don't squeal. Even when I enjoy the car. I don't think that's the issue.
Anyone comments on the Clio I just say that you have to be a good driver to get why. Which is true you do have to have some basic skills to get the best from these cars. Otherwise you moan they have no torque, understeer and the brakes need upgrading before you can start to enjoy the car. Good...
I almost rear ended an Alfa at the track day I did in my HDI estate. He was moaning about brake fade in the pit lane. I crapped my pants when I found out why! Sooooo much speed unnecessarily knocked off!! Brake fade also depends on the track. Fast downhill sections with tight corners at the...
