How long is a piece of string regarding a dephaser. Water pumps are not indestructible mine has been changed on mine before I owned it due to it dying.
Nicely done! Engine noise is pretty good on these which is why the kwik fit special exhaust on mine will only be changed when it dies. No chance of failing a noise test is a bonus.
Just checking! You wouldn't be the first experienced mechanic to muck it up :p A lot of the crank location issues are due to someone previously mucking it up.
In short the pulley tool is a multi engine tool.
Ah! Always though the tool came setup for others and you had to change it for the sports. Fair enough.
Make sure you don't get the crank locking tool in the wrong place on the crankshaft and search for advice on equalising the belts tension and setting the tensioner. You really shouldn't...
If yours is cup packed you won't get an Ebay spring for it. Might do for a standard 182. It really is a bit of a gamble it seems. I've just removed a 172 aftermarket spring from my 172 cup as they don't do an aftermarket cup spring and the previous owner was clueless or was lied to.. Getting on...

See if you can find the part numbers on the dampers or paint marks on the springs if they still use them on the MK3's if it's not all too rusty and try contact one of the Renault dealers or someone with access to the parts system on here. It would be better not to mix dampers if you like to get...
Even in a 172 or 182 you'll most likely get annihilated up your local dual carriageway these days. So the lack of performance is pretty irrelevant fir everyday driving. Clean licence and no accidents is what you need to aim for. Good advice so far. Especially the autosolos. They are a good...
I have a kwik fit special on my Cup (previous owner). More engine noise which suits me. No chance of failing noise tests and according to a few GPS runs isn't robbing the car of much if anything either.
Yes. Not read through it myself. I have renaults various pdf manuals but like Haynes they assume you have all the gear and things just magically undo. Guides are probably better.
I paid 50 quid a shock for genuine Ford items on my XR2 10 years ago. Renaults shocks are really cheap! Can change then like service items compared to some cars. Would stop those nasty nuts on the fronts from seizing up.
Definitely. I think the moment the gearbox slides home is always a good one. Until you see something you forgot on the floor!
I meant no intercooler in my last post. Stupid phone.
Some do. Euro car parts type places will usually give you a choice but if only Original Equipment standard parts will do a lot of places won't take the chance. KYB's shock range has a Billy basic oil filled range for some cars.
Those EBay ones will be the most basic cheap thing you can buy. Fine for trips to tescos but not enthusiastic driving. Anything around 50 quid for a genuine or OE spec shock is reasonable really. Peugeot want 70 quid a shock for a 206. I went with KYB for my 206 at 41 quid because they now make...
Most standard clutches are pretty robust these days. My peugeot HDI (not dual mass) clutch is munching on an extra 50lbs/ft over standard without complaining.
You can nudge the standard limiter in 4th at Combe in a 182 FF 2up so I can understand why 5th gets lowered on these. Annoyingly its not low enough to be of use on track as standard (although in a flyweight Clio it's a little better) and not tall enough for Motorway cruising!
I wouldn't worry about the box life if you have mechanical sympathy. I've yet to see a person that claims they aren't heavy handed actually not be heavy handed. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying that. Which is why I don't believe any of the dual mass crap but that's another discussion. The...
Good car just got flamed for not being a 205 GTI and being a bit dull to drive. A good driver will find fun in anything. Engine has a good torque spread from when I looked into these. Engine was a joint venture between PSA and BMW. People are too easily swayed by the press.
Wheel hop. Fitting new tyres so I can start tracking it properly. I know these cars do it but not this easily. Avoidable like making smooth gear changes to save the mounts and irrelevant on track as it only happens in 1st but annoying. Resisting the temptation to rip out The front suspension for...
