The description is a bit confusing, it says front wheel bearing but then says fits all models with rear drum brakes??
The 172/182s have bigger bearings up front to the other models.
It sounds like the thermostat housing. The pump is on the other side of the engine running off the aux belt.
On the thermostat one of the screws is the bleed screw for the coolant but I cant see that working itself loose.
From renault you have to buy the whole wishbone, they are around £60. Or search for cliospares shop on ebay, its joeshydee on here, they can supply just the joints.
Who cares which is better, its like comparing a Spitfire mk1a to a Spitfire mkVb.
Have a look at some and see if you can have a test drive, they are not that different. Your 172mk1 is due its 2nd cambelt, I would have thought that some/most 182s will be due their first and their original...
In addition you have to unbolt the 4 bolts holding the air con radiator to it. Does your new rad have the provisions for the air con radiator to sit on it?? Onvce youve got the stuff out the way its only held in with 2 clamps, once youve unbolted them just slide the metal bits out the rubber...
I think thats whats ruined the disc and bearing. The discs dont look that worn. Renault always recommend replacing the hub nut each time its loosened. They should be tightened to 175nm
I would have stopped driving it and checked things when you heard "clicks and pops"!!!!
As above it looks like the hub nut hasnt been tightened up as its right on the end of the shaft. The nylon bit isnt even touching the thread. Im suprised how the bearing and disc fell apart like that, it...
The fans on most Renaults are very quiet, They come on when the coolant temp reaches 99c. This is picked up by the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing. Then fan then turns off around 96c. The 172 and 182s (except the 172 cup) have 2 speed fans, the fan comes on a low speed at 99c...
I thought on the later phases they changed the filter on the D4F and D7F. The mk2ph1s had the paper type, Im sure later on Renault changed it to the newer type.
The rear suspension is semi-independent, the rear trailing arm is designed to flex a little. The rear axles are the same on all Clios 2s except on the 182 where they thickened the roll bar and strengthened the bit around the shocks and the springs.
For the rear you can use a thin bar or even a screwdriver to put across the grooves to wind it back in. For the fronts you can use a normal wind back clamp tool or even a g clamp will do as the caliper has a big slot in the middle to get one in.
On mk2 Clios they have the adjuster nut behind the centre section heat shield right under the handbrake. Remove the heatshield and adjust the nut using a deep socket. However on some mk2ph1s only there is also an adjusting nut on the handbrake lever, this can be seen by removing the plastic...
I bought the discs from GSF with the rings and bearings. However I successfully removed my old rings and gave them to someone on here. The discs were 7 years old and they just pushed off with a bit of wd40 and hammer/chisel.
The post cat lambda is a sensor on your exhaust after the cat that measures what un-burned oxygen is left in the exhaust gases (there should be hardly any oxygen left after the cat). Either the sensor is faulty or the cat is not as efficient as it was. Its a common problem on the 182.
I had a Clio Grande, the loom wasnt there for the foglights. I bought some second hand foglights, wired them to the battery with a fuse and just run a relay off the sidelights with a remote switch. Its a lot of effort for something thats never used.
