Niall the 24-105 isn't canons best attempt at a lens. I have processed about 30 files from the lens and a 5d2 and it's more than adequate but doesn't compare to a 24-70 say.
That at said what about the new sigma art 24-105, should at least best the canon version?
Stick with the 50mm, last things nudes want is a distorted wide angle look! Yup look into flash preferably off camera and get yourself a flashbender too.
Glad you like the comp idea guys, now if only I had the 'bokeh' machine that is the sony STF 135, (I dont!) it uses nd discs to smooth out the bokeh. Will have to get creative with the Tamron 70-200 instead.
According to the dreaded dxo mark d4 is no better than d800 at low noise unless you want to argue over 1/10th of a stop. What you do need to do though is reduce the d800 files to 1/3 for a fair comparison.
There you go! F5.6 in central areas and f8 in the extreme corners!

D4 engine is fine if your a sports tog but this sort of camera (and I agree it looks ace) would be better suited to a slower more traditional photography and the D600/800 sensor would have been a better option.
I think it looks great, but you can get a better specced and cheaper camera with better image quality from one of Nikons more modern looking cameras.
one for the hipster crowd?
Example take a portrait at 200mm and at 24 mm (full frame equivalents)
Keep the head the same size and you will notice the head looks very different in both shots and the backgrounds couldn't be more different.
Thats what I'm on about.
Maybe perspective is the wrong term that I am thinking of then but very different viewpoints can be obtained by different focal lengths as I explained above.
Perhaps I'm misreading you here but i'm not sure I understand.
I am aware that yes you can crop a small part of a wide angle image and get the same effect as a telephoto but not exactly the same perspective. Wider angle lenses have the perspective quality of 'pulling' objects apart and...
I had the mk1, mk2 has better sensor, nearly a stop better low light performance iirc. It has a tilting screen and a hot shoe. With the extra imo, check digital rev and I know the wex bargain basement has some open box deals on the mk2 at the moment.
