I think this version is better taken about 15 mins earlier as its bluer and the beast looks like its cut through the clouds!

It does seem a little underexposed. Here's my tips for that scene. Firstly remove the nd filter its so not needed for night photography. Pop it in the bin just in case you accidentally use it again ;). However a nd grad filter would balance exposure between the sky and the shadows of the water...

Not sure I would describe fine art photography as personal use, the lines have become very mixed, look at newspaper photos most are dire but some are really very good, same with wedding photography and car photography. I would wager there's nothing you need to learn about the technical aspects...
Yes all good points Niall, don't underestimate the value of fine art though as there is a gulf between an 'image' such as your tv's in the sky and a 'photograph' of a pretty scene, however good that photograph may be.
If I turned out the images you do when I was 15 I would be much better now at twice your age plus erm 7 :o I did GCSE toggling too but had to use a manual zenit camera it didn't even have a light meter, let alone autofocus! Wasn't until I was 21 that I had an autofocus Minolta SLR which may...
If it helps Laura I think there's a few improvements that could be made, the carpet material is quite busy and distracts a little in the first two shots, also get people to take off their watches as they too can look out of place. A closer crop on the first would isolate the key elements of that...
