Bought a Quad L2 centre from an AVforums member today, so that makes Quad 11L2 fronts, L2 centre and Quad L-ite rears with a KEF sub. ​Just need to replace the Arcam AVR 280 with a beefier receiver and also the VT65 plasma now!

Plasma IS still a thing - hence the reference status awards for the latest VT and ZT panels. I'm hard pressed choosing between a VT65 plasma and W9 series Sony LCD though.

However, 9G Kuros are still relavant and comparable, even to the current VT and ZT65 sets which are the best displays this year ;)

Pioneer > Panasonic > Samsung.

From what i've seen / read even the best edge lit displays can't muster the black levels the GT / VT sets can. There's a reason it's gained reference status.

Along with artifacts, motion handling issues, greater input lag, p*ss poor blacks...... ;)

The only real issue seems to be the fans can be a touch noisy (though the ones on my current Panasonic plasma are whisper quiet!) and the obvious electricity consumption compared to edge lit LCDs.

Yeah i've already trawled through the owners threads for both this and the ZT60 (more than I can justify to spend). Seems overwhelmingly positive, and the blacks seem on par with or superior to the last gen Kuro sets!

As per the title really. I'm considering purchasing the 55" version of this TV which seems to be the best panel on sale right now. Blows even the best edge lit LCD panel out of the water in terms of black levels and motion capturing - along with achieving AV forums 'reference status' Not had...

This. When the Xb180 controller is smaller than the last, while the new PS4 controller is much improved on the old PS controller. This (far more relevant) review shows the gap between the controllers has significantly reduced.

I do much prefer the richer more natural colour palette they provide. Only gripe with my now 4 year old panel is A) the power consumption and B) the lag with fast moving objects. Worth waiting for 4k tech though?

I'm going to get my PS4 pre-ordered soon. Wondering whether to upgrade my Panasonic plasma at the same time or wait for 4k panels to become reasonably priced. ...... Or wait for Pioneers to restart producing their legendary Kuro TV line * * I can dream :(

That's pretty much the only answer in counter argument to the PS4. Why people like Kinect as a gaming peripheral I don't know. Give me a joypad anyday.

PS4 for me. Sony so far look far more competitive in the next gen battle.

It looks 'ok' minus - - The towstrap (it's a 1.4 Astra ffs) - The blue LEDs - That tragic exhaust - The Ripspeed style aerial. Remove that lot and it would look a whole lot tidier IMO.
