On a 172 the revs are limited to 6700rpm until the coolant temp has reached 75C. When at temperature the revs are limited to 7200rpm in 1st and 2nd gear and 7000rpm in 3-5th. The gear change indicator lights up 300rpm before the limit. I cant imagine the 182 being much different.
Also check the steering rack mounts. the rubber can crack and cause the symtoms your descirbing. Tighten the subframe bolts to see if this temporarily resolves the issue proving its the mounts.
No idea why renault changed it, they prefered to use a ph1 setup on some of the cup race cars for a while. Some say the ph1 box sounds nicer but a ph1 doesnt have accustic valve.
Thats a good point, on a ph1 they have some nylon wrapped round the pipe and a plastic clip to protect the hose...
As above, the renault discs come complete with the bearings so its just a case of sliding the old disc off and popping the new ones on. Just remember to put the washers the right way round and its good practise to replace the lock nuts.
As above make sure it is both of the lower ball joints, not to be confused with track rod ends. If it is the lower ball joints best to get from renault as you get a whole new lower arm with all new bushes etc.
Try taking the breather pipe off helps displace the air in the box. Slowly pour it in until it pours out the fill hole, go for a drive and when you get back top it up anymore until it pours out the fill hole.
If the steering wheel doesnt centre after having the tracking done then they havnt done it properly. They need to adjust both sides in/out to get the steering wheel spot on.
When was your 172 registered? 90% of them have just 1 downstream lambda sensor, the later ones had both. Does it have the standard cat? Did you take if for a good drive before the test?
:approve: 90% of 172mk1s will not be effected. As most were registered before march 2001 when they did not measure it by emissions, it went on engine size.
SHouldnt be too hard on that engine, might have to remove the airbox and move the odd coolant pipe to the side, you shouldnt have any trouble from the top.
