Cant find anything for the front on the system i have access to. For the rear (this is for a 3.4 litre 996) Im getting:
Fitting Position: Rear Axle
Ø: 299 mm, Thickness/Strength: 24 mm, Height: 75 mm, Brake Disc Type: Perforated / Vented, Min. thickness: 22 mm, Hole Pitch / Number: 05/09
The drivers side doesnt have anything holding it in. Its free to slide off the gearbox shaft. With everything bolted on there shouldnt be any play/sliding on its own though. Unless there was just play because the wheel was jacked up and the suspension was down.
I had both of my shafts...
They are quite rare as they only made 30. I nearly bought one, in the end I found a bargain red one that I couldnt resist. I think Middo had the sunflower I was after!
Id be interested to know how many ph1 172 have been written off, I can think of 2 yellows.
Doesnt have to be a Renault specialist. How worn are the rear discs?? Renault sell new rear discs with bearings in them ready to fit on. GSF sell them a bit cheaper.
I had a 5 door, I miss that car, the rear doors were so handy, also miss the sunroof. I thought it was good as it looked slightly different from all the others on here.
Clio II steelies are offset 36 so you shouldnt have any problems there. The wheels need to have 4 bolt holes (4/100). Inspect your steelie bolts, normally when buying new alloys they come with new bolts. Best to get someone with mechanical knowledge if your not sure.
No, the 172mk1 has a shorter cat. So a 172mk1 centre section is made about an inch and a half longer than a 172mk2 centre section.
It would only fit if it had a 172mk2 cat.
My apologies I was just trying to make it clear a 182 manifold wont bolt onto a 172mk1 exhaust system.
With the subframe, roll bar and steering rack out the way it maybe a lot easier with the car high up fitting it from the bottom.
Theres not many clios with that engine. Its more less the same engine thats in a 1.9 renault traffic, some van companies/tuners do kits for vans, might be worth doing a search.
IIRC all mk2ph1 have them, and its the same part for all of them. Its fairly simpe to change, your suposed to de-presurrize the system, then it just unclips and the pipe just clip off the ends.
As fred said Im sure they are different but irrc it doesnt matter as they will both fit. The normal 172 one was designed to have the air con rad bolted onto it.
As mentioned make sure the aux belt, tensioner and pulley is done aswell, make sure the tensioners are replaced with the cablelt. It does seem too cheap, Gates do a timing kit for the 172 but its about £10 cheaper than the renault kit and looks identical.
The 182 has a completly different exhaust system, the manifold on it is a big old thing that includes the down pipe, it then bolts to the 'straight' cat. The 182 cat is slightly further back and is joined to the rest of the exhaust by a U clamp.
The 172 manifold is joined about halfway down...
Theres not really anywhere thats suitable, the radiator blocks the lower grill that side, there is space on the other side of the radiator where theres a splash guard but theres not much room and you will have to try and route a pipe across the back of the fan. You could always get a 172mk1...
