Nice work!! The mk1 bay looks slightly bigger than the mk2. A 172mk1 engine? as has the cable throttle but must be 172cup'd as has the air con pump took off.
Very common problem, sounds like one of your cables might have snapped or like you said a shoe has come adrift although to be honest its that long since I worked on drums I cannot remember what they look like on the clio.
^Yes when youve had 2 cars with this engine and worked extensivly on both and then get a 172 its shocking. Theres barely enough room in the 172 to change a lightbulb but on the D7F you have access all round.
Not much, easy job on that engine if you take it to a garage looking at £100-£120 Fitted. Make sure the aux belt is done aswell again thats only about £12.
