The D7F 8v engine, its the same engine used in the mk2 clios 98-07. They all look the same on these engines so any from those cars should be fine, the filters on 1.4s are completly different.
Its completly normal, when theres more weight in the rear it pushes the suspension down which causes the angle of the wheel to move which will drag the rear brakes. This causes a loud creaking noise. Hope that makes sense!
Try jacking the front of the car up with the handbrake on and listen...
Just the springs should be fine on a fairly new car, it would be advisable to go and get your tracking checked. I think kwik-fit still do a free check but its £30 for the pleasure if its out.
Is it safe/evironmentally friendly to let the gas out of the air con? I want to take my air con radiator out as its bent like a banana after a stone hit it at 60mph.
When I drove mine to France I got 41.8mpg and the other weekend I got 41mpg driving to somerset and back. Driving to and from work I get around 36mpg combined. Driving around town it goes down to about 32mpg.
The tanks holds 50 litres and you can run it on 95 ron without problems.
Yup, Ive had 2X 1.2s and they both were the same the trouble is the 1.2 8v and 16v struggle to get upto temperature in this weather. Some older mk2ph1s had insulation in the bonnet and bulkhead like the 172 but all the newer ones dont. Wipe it off go for a drive then when you get back sit in...
Mines on 62k the gear nob, pedals and seats are fine but the wheel and grab handles are worn, the wheel more so because the previous owner used a heavy duty wheel lock.
Springs supporting trailing arms if your just going to lower it on springs the rear is just a case of undoing the shock pulling the arm down and yanking the spring out, you dont even have to take the wheels off.
Make sure its had its cambelt/tensioners/aux belt done as its a £480-£600 job, check all the electrics and start from cold and start from warm. Check the driveshaft gaitors and take it for a good drive and listen for suspension noises/worn shocks and inspect the exhaust/mounts. Interior...
Its fairly simple there was a guide on this site a while back. There is also a guide in the Haynes manual which you can hire from a good libruary. The only special tools you needs are spring clamps and maybe a swan neck spanner for the top of the struts.
I know what your going through I did the exact same thing 4 months ago. Still miss my 1.2 in a strange way though. After 4 months on you forget how different the 2 cars are. I drove my brothers 1.2 the other day into town and it felt broken!
P.S. must agree with the rattles comment!
Yeah its on the passenger side on the end of the dash, the cover will clip off and it will probably have the passenger airbag warning sticker on it. Theres also another fuse box in the engine bay behind the battery
