Does anyone know a place that sells decent gaitor clips that hold the rubber gaitor onto the drive shaft? The Renault ones are crap and I need something that can hold it on tightly so it doesnt seep grease everytime I go on a motorway trip.
Ive got some jubilee clips but I dont think they...
Spotted a Red mk1 vee on the slip road to the M1 near Nottingham (I think junction 24) that had gone down the embackment backwards. Didnt lool like there was much damage, wandered if anyone on here and how it happened?
Its pretty straight forward to do yourself see here for a guide. With changing the discs you need to have new wheel bearings aswel but if buying from renault they will be included. I think the pair are around £70.
Heres 2 of my old ones, not sure if any use to you, they had covered approx 22k on a cup 15k on a 1.2 then about 25k on my old 1.2. They are really easy to kerb with 195s on but on mine the paint finish was always good and they came up very clean and shiney after a wash, the colour never faded...
18 degrees is cold? jeez i cant wait to emigrate, my temp sensor was flashing 1degrees this morning.
Are there many Renault dealors in oz out of interest?
Before I brought my 172 the previous owner had a new Renault exhaust fitted  . I want this to last but its already started to rust badly at the joins. Is there anything you can put on them to protect or coat them with to prevent them falling apart?
Yup they are definatly different. Ordering parts like this for 172mk1 from Renault is a pain in the arse if its wing, front bumper, wheel arch related.
Alternatively you could fit the fog lights, earth them, wire them with a fuse to the battery with a relay going to the sidelights then buy a hella remote switch and stick the switch somewhere on your dash. The switches are remotecontrol so no need for wires going everywhere, I think halfords...
tbh its been a while since I had my suspension off but from memory I dont think there is anything worth changing. All there is, is the metal top plate, the dust cover and a rubber mount.
Im sure its just a case of buying the 2 lights, fitting/connecting them and fitting a new light switch stalk. The wiring should be there in your steering column. Im not 100% on this Ive only done it on a mk2ph1.
Renault will charge hundreds, from memory you need the fog lights, the wiring loom (some Clios have it already), and a new light stalk with fog light switch on it.
Yeah Id get new ones Fubar, they are the rubber seat for the springs, they can hold a lot of dirt/water in with the spring and this is what normally causes the springs to rust and snap at the ends.
The mount is on the drivers side of the engine, you cant miss it if you remove the plastic engine cover. Loosen H and J, undo them about 1 cm up pull the engine forward or get someone to hold it, pulling towards the front while you re-tighten them to 62nm.
Renault (chelmsford) put Shell Helix 10w40 in mine at its 60k service. :banghead: . Why I service it myslef now, dont bother with Renault, just the thought of them slamming my bonnet makes me cringe.
The exhausts on 1.2s last for ages, mine lasted upto 84k until I sold it and I think Giles's lasted upto 100k on his old one. Is there anything people can do to prevent there 172s exhausts from rusting/falling off. My car has had a new renault one put on by previous owner and its starting to...
If you mean the canister that absorbs fuel vapours I think all it has in it is a solenoid valve, if your car is stalling or has a very lumpy idle then this will be faulty.
