Check the inside of your rear light clusters and inspect the connections, quite common for moistuire to get in there and corrode the connectors causing them to contact each other.
Its proberly easiest to get a willy or valver lump. You could even go down the route of a r5 1.4 turbo or volvo 1.7 turbo engine if you fancy a little challenge.

It could also be your driveshaft cv joint. Just have a quick look to see if its been leaking any grease out of the gaitor from over a long period of time.
The advert that they first showed in cinemas when it first came out was much better. It had a red 197 and was much better than the one they are showing on tv.
The gaitor kit is about £10 from renault (consists of gaitor, 2 clip and grease). Its more likely to be a loose clip as the Renault ones are crap, if your lucky and it is the clip then you just need to buy a metal zip tie or plastic one may do. Otherwise its quite hard taking the driveshaft out...
I think you dont need a gb badge if the number plate has GB and the euro sign on it. As for the lights the 172mk1 was adjustable but on the mk2s you have to buy the stickers to change the direction of the beam.
I had this problem in my old 1.2 mk2ph1. Have a look under the car and put some grease where the gear selector rod goes into the gearbox as this can dry and queak. You may have to remove a plastic under cover.
