Guys, any suggestions on a decent place to get this done? I'd prefer someone that is linked to a detailer, so I can get my wheels sealed at the same time.
Usual thing, I don't have time or space, so would rather drop off, work, collect and pay.
Twice! Ease of them being around the corner, so I can carry tyres back and forth from the house. Plus I've twice realised I need them fitting that Saturday or Sunday morning before a trip. Looking for somewhere that I can store them, but have no way of transporting them!
No major updates apart from its first clean for months.
The E46 strut talked about above got lost in the post, so picked up another one on the way down from the NW over the Easter weekend. Ordered the caps and the bolts to fit this/next weekend.
Good old KwikFit have ballsed up the balancing of...
Winters off. Summers on. Rolling noise difference is quite something! Shame it's chucking it down today. Driving up for a wedding in the NW over Easter so will be interesting to see the difference, having only had winter tyre experience so far.
It will last a while if you clean the area and prep properly, but the issue is more about attracting dust, as the gel sits on the surface of plastic, whereas it soaks into rubber.
@Liam. during gear changes? Yes if so. I've not got used to it so far tbh. Still worries me, but went into BMW for a full health check and out with their "chief tech" (probably a badge they pass around each day) who said it was a sweet as a nut.
The Vanos sound also worries me, but the car...
There isn't an issue, it's advised.
IPA tends to come in it's purest form (about 97%). There is simply no need for this level of concentration, so people water it down. However, standard water out of the tap will leave spotting. RO/DI water contains fewer/no impurities and thus does not leave...
Incorrect. You're thinking of distilled. And even then, only the steam is distilled. The water in the kettle is sterilised.
Deionised water comes from ion exchange.
Just to really confuse things, you can also get RO or reverse osmosis water, where water is "pulled" through a membrane to remove...
It genuinely makes naff all difference. Since your car is Racing Blue, I'll post this instead (back in the old days - talking 10 years ago - of SRP and Natty's Blue);
I would point you to something spray and wipe @JPJ89 - something like C2V3 by GTechniq, AF ToughCoat or CarPro Reload.
My old car with AF Triple topped with C2V3.
In that case I suggest you speak to Jim. He is one of very few people I would let touch my own car and I can vouch for his work on numerous high value vehicles.
Just to pull you up on something here, Stu - dealer prep is horrendous 99% of the time. A new car prep will require a decent amount of correction a lot of the time if it's been prepped at the dealership before you pick it up - that's why so many clean freaks ask dealers not to touch their cars...
