These have all needed a fair bit of PP and are still dark, but at ISO800 they can't really be brightened up without a feck load of noise (and I've reduced a lot of noise!)...

A grey card allows you to expose correctly. The white of the snow will have thrown the exposure meter off. TBH though, D40's are s**t for noise above ISO 400, and crap in low light. Wish I could buy something better personally.

I've got one. Foams well enough, but I'm struggling to get the foam to cling no matter how much I play with the solutions/settings.

Well I found 3 pictures of Soph's Car, one coming in, one on the stand and one blurry one on the parade lap. TBH, I think a lot of people on here took better photos.

My D40 is recognised as external storage by my macbook when I plug it in, no card reader or software required.

How hard were the night pans? ISO 1600, widest aperture and a lot of patience?

Believe me I do not think a tap creates more pressure than a bloody pressure washer. I have to know about pressure for my apprenticeship FFS lol.

We've loads of water pressure.

It's a brand spanking snow gun and I've only used it thrice, and there is no metal gauze, it's not on a pressure washer.
