I originally changed the bottom radiator one for a jubilee because I just couldn't resit the original, it was so awkward. Then when I was trying to clean the face of the thermostat housing I was worried I would damage the hose, so thought it best to unclip it, and just refitted with a jubilee...
Hope you all had a good Christmas .
When I changed my coolant today I also replaced the tatty Renault hose clips with a jubilees. Where the large hose connects to the thermostat I now have a leak and I haven't even run the engine yet 😢😂. It's like the hose has been deformed...
I copied this info for my own reference recently from another thread, but confess I can't remember which thread or who posted it, so can't confirm its validity......

Fitted two new sidelight bulbs .
Cleaned throttle body :grinning:.
Found split in intake hose 😞.
Kind member on CS.net has sorted me a replacement already .
Yeah, summat's been fitted wrong. I wonder if the bearing is there at all?!
(Btw, I called the "top spring cap" a "top hat" in my earlier post, sorry my mistake. The top hats do nothing other than prevent the whole lot dropping out when you jack the car up).
You can't adjust tension on the bearing, if it's fitted correctly it will always spin freely. The only reason it will not spin freely is if it's fitted upside down or something else is wrong.
I guess you'll have to take it all out and check its fitted properly I'm afraid :grimacing:.
The springs won't be upside down, they are different diameters top to bottom and just wouldn't fit.
My springs were binding, in the same way as you've described, but I had a seized solid top mount, so I refitted standard mounts. So having just done this I imagine the only thing that could be...
I also fitted a Ktec Stealth last week, so much classier than the horrendous chavtastic Scorpion with 3" bore I took off , but still makes some noise :smilingimp:.
When I fitted Eibach Sportlines, the drop was minimal over stock (which like yours were probably saggy :tongueout:), I think...
Sir_Dave mentioned the babybmw forum dealer for unbeatable M135i deals, and he certainly has a great following - but for impeccable customer service too! He and the forum members have a mutually beneficial relationship. Personally, though, I still got mine from Ocean Falmouth, the deal was...
I also got genuine oil/filter/sump washer for £30, but was just thinking of swapping the oil out for an early change. With my car on 100k+ miles I wondered if more frequent than recommended oil changes would be beneficial, particularly with the car being ragged on track. Or is this unnecessary &...
Whilst ECP have half price oil in the Black Friday Sale, is it worth getting some non-Elf alternative for an interim change?
5 litres of Gulf 5w40 for £13 delivered.....
Views welcome
I think there's a few of us in Cornwall now, I've got a 172, friend of mine has just picked up a 182, @Jenesaisqoui has a 182; potential for a proper little meet .
I found the part numbers listed on a really old thread, and I ordered them from my dealer in the hope they were right. Fortunately they were, the only difference was the original nuts were 10mm, but the new ones are 13mm.
Thanks for the replies. It's interesting that HEL have a different part for the Ph1 172 and Ph2 172 and 182. They might get more sales they were a bit clearer about their products .
I'm hoping I'll get these pukka used lines from @cs_dave, but if for some reason it doesn't work out I...
Even though it's on Eibach Sportlines, I think cosmetically it needs lowering further, new alloys and some spacers. I doubt lower springs will make the track experience much better (may be Cooksports?), and spacers I've read would be detrimental......
So, all being well, I've secured some brake lines from @cs_dave (thanks!), but can I still clarify, all Ph1 172s & Ph2 172s & 182s share the same brake lines?
Hi, I'm a bit of a tight ar$e and always after a bit of bargain 🙈. An eBay seller has HEL braided lines for a fraction under £50, and the part number is Ren-4-112. I searched HEL's website and they are listed for a 2000/01 172. Now they also have Ren-4-113 for 2004- 182s, but no specific...
