Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Well I've amassed quite a collection of parts, still got more in the post and on order, and others with f0xy.
just waiting for pics to upload from today, as f0xy stripped down the engine for me earlier.
Just weighed it again and it now says it weighs 8kgs. I think the scales are over reading though. Could well be same as alloy bonnet. It feels extremely light, and I've even had an alloy bonnet on my old ph1, which it still feels lighter than.

You are bidding on a double skinned carbon fibre bonnet for a Phase 1 Mk2 Renault Clio. This was originally fitted to a...
It wouldn't be like having a Le Mans car on track compared to a metro. An advanced driver will notice they are approaching someone going slower, and pass in a safe place. As long as people are well informed and know the rules, cars shouldn't come together or cause problems for eachother.
I think a safe route to take the first time around would be to contact a trackday operator and enquire about a large 'group buy'. Wouldn't be a 'dedicated' CS event, but would give an idea of actual interest, rather than people just saying they want to, then realising how much it costs...
The RTOC event was open to memebers with other cars too. Depends how you want to run it. A dedicated CS event, or buy a provisional number of slots at an existing trackday event and just make them available to CS members (or CS members with clios).
Something like the RTOC day at Mallory? Only been once, but was a great day. Sure CS could organise something good, but renting a track for the day/weekend is very expensive.
Brand new first car is a bad idea. I'm going to assume you are 17 or 18. It's extremely likely that you will crash/prang/scrape/curb/poorly-maintain your first car as you start you actually 'learn' how to drive on the roads on your own. Unless daddy is picking up the bills I'd be looking for...
You get what you pay for, as has already been said.
Also, if people thin T1Rs are bad, they have clearly never driven on Pirelli P6000s - they came as standard on the fiesta Zetec-s and have rightfully earned the name "ditch-finders". They lose grip quite spectacularly even in the dry.
I'd be happy with something near £1k but it just doesn't seem possible. I'm going to do a lot of ringing around over the next couple of weeks. Really starting to grind on me how much I've paid out for insurance over the years. almost makes it not worth having a car.
Well I managed to get a renewal price out of flux, which was nice... until they told me the price: £1,867.

I seem to get fisted every year for insurance, even on low powered cars.
True, renewals are general awful. Flux gave me a laughable renewal a few years ago, and I went straight to Brentacre who beat it by £500. I ended up back with flux becase they beat it brentacre by £50.
Sky have been pretty poor every time I've tried due to my postcode. They seem to touch...
