Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Another boring update, few little bits arrived this morning from ECP. Just waiting on a price for a cambelt kit and aux kit from an truer on here, but if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
Track Rod Ends
Gearbox Mount
Oil Filter
Cabin Filter
...boring bits.
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Next few updates will probably just be a tonne of purchases that I have to make; the first of which arrived this morning.
Polybushed Dogbone mount.
should be a few other bits and pieces arriving this week.
Just noticed there is 4 or 5 registered on 02/03/2001 - little odd, mine was registered the day after. Almost like renault shipped in a batch of sunflowers.
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Just tried, and the new key doesn't work in the existing petrol cap. Oh well will just have to have two keys.
Cheers mate, it's nice to see things moving finally. Still much to do, made a couple of purchases today but still on the hunt for a pair of driveshafts.
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Ah cool, I'll give it a go when I get back. It's no big deal though I can just use the original key if need be for the fuel cap.
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Well finally got things moving. I'm lazy and crap at manual labour so f0xy helped rip out the old engine. Early start (for a saturday). I'd already removed some of the simple stuff, so we go to work.
Noticed something a little worrying, so glad I'll have a fresh Aux...
Re: Supercharged Sunflower
Engine is getting ripped out of mine this saturday, ready for the new engine. Been feeling sorry for itself in the driveway the past month. Hoping to give the engine bay a tidy up at the same time too. This is going ot be very, very smart once finished.
Again, same problem my idle control valve was on it's way out. Not holding revs, especially when cold. However yours is a Ph2 so I'm not sure how different they operate to a ph1 (ph1 being cable throttle - ph2 being fly by wire)
Not an expensive part I don't think. Be wary of Ebay tat though as they are known to fail quite quickly. I managed to pick up a second hand one for next to nothing when I was buying a load of parts. Just find someone breaking a car or an engine. I'd try and trial fit one off someone elses car...
Could be idle control valve, sounds like the early symptoms of mine befor it eventually stopped working correctly. Eventually it started sticking, either sitting at 2k, or refusing to idle at all.
