Smashed the sump, so need a new sump/pan
Need to know if there are any alternative fitments other than directly from a 172. A part number would be handy.
Espace 2.0l
Scenic 2.0l
megane 2.0l
(all F4R engines - not sure on bolt spacing for the gearbox etc.)
cheers.
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Busy day today... I'm off to Ireland this evening in the car, so I needed to get these rear bearings sorted. Was a bit worried that something would go wrong (as something usually does). Was a bit of struggle to get one of the disks off, but with a little pusuasion it...
For a modern engine, 150hp from 2ltrs is not much better than your average family car. I would not say the F4R is undriveable in any way, ~165hp-175hp isn't a huge leap from 150hp. IMO - it's not acceptable for a 'hot hatch'.
I'm not a huge fan of the ph2 rear lights if I'm honest. We'll see though.
Definitely will be getting some spacers on the front, the wheels do look very lost. Was hoping for possibly getting some new wheels with a lower offset, but I think it could be a while until I can afford some.

Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Was planning on doing a few bits today, but I just couldn't be arsed to be frank. So I'll leave it until tomorrow (I've got the week off). I was also planning on getting all the spray work done this week, but due to a couple of unexpected bills its' going to have to...
all fairly common easy to fix issues... my engine mount gave up the other day, and I'm pretty sure the driveshafts are on the way out too. As much as it is a ball ache, it's what to expect from a little car that has spent much of it's life getting ragged.
Yes there is. I'm hardly an authority on alignment but a little camber does help 'turn-in'. A silly amount of camber isn't necessary, but from the pics it looks like there may be little, or no negative camber on the front.
Best to have it set up by a specialist (not kwick-fit/national tryes)...
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Haha.. see what I mean?
Cheers dude, the front is pretty damn low, will be raised a tad when I can be arsed.
Due to being so tired, sunburnt and lazy I didn't bother going to the bodyshop to get a quote. However I did manage to pick up the bearings that I may be...
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Glad I'm not imagining things.
Ph2 colourcoded side strips, maybe cc'd door handles too... we'll see. May be nipping to the bodyshop tomorrow for a quote.
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Thanks man, it does get a lot of looks and is a hell of a lot of fun. :approve:
Thanks man, loving it. Really quiet on the motorway, nice little bit of rasp higher up the revs.
Another puritan... I can appreciate that some cars shouldn't be fettled with, but I...
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Cheers dude.
Had a slight issue this weekend, on the way to Awesomfest the engine mount gave up. So we had to rig it up with some rubber. Believe it or not is was a strip of rubber tread about 50cm long that flew of a tyres from one of the drift cars. Pobably more...
Re: Bren's Sunflower 172
Off to pipewerx this morning to get the exhaust sorted, was pretty horrible driving down on just the manifold, but got there without being pulled (phyew).
Sacked off the shagged centre box, and welded in a straight 2 1/4" pipe. Mostly because I don't want to spend...
Granted the Koni adjustable dampers are proven to be awesome, however for general daily use, and only the occasional trackday (and budget), Highsports are probably the best option. You'd have to go second hand to get hold of adjustable coilovers for sub £500.
If a set of adjustable rear...
First I've heard. I wouldn't pay the extra for a new set. Like I said, you can probably get a decent set with adjustable damping for a similar price 2nd hand.
Depends who you book through. Often see them for £250+ - book enough in advance, or find a group buy, then you can get a full day for as little as £150. Have to factor in tyres, fuel and potentially accomodation.
