There is no other way of doing this than by removing the dash unfortunately. The standard tweeters ar spliced in somewhere in the middle of a huge loom so the only real way is to disconnect them at the speaker or run new wires from head unit and splice them in where the wires go into the door.
I left the head unit and changer the same but put in Alpine componenets front and back and added an amp. Without amping them there was no discernable difference but once amped the difference was huge. Not an award winning install but more than adequate.
Gibbo- if you are over Edinburgh way...
My car is about to go back into the garage for the third time! for this problem. The bearing hasnt actually ever failed but each time they fix it the noise comes back even worse about 300-400 miles later. Getting very pissed of now.
Thanks for that Mo Unfortunately the next one at Knockhill is 13th of June when I will be away sunning my a**e on holiday! Otherwise would prob have gone for it.
The only place you will get standard rear pads for 172 is from a Renault dealer unless someone can tell me otherwise (been there etc!) so you may be just as well to get something different
Teady- The one in Sighthill is now sitting in the car park and has been registered! So if GR telling the truth! then not that one. The only other V6 in a garage that I know of is in the Mazda garage at the back of Murrayfield but dont know if its been registered or not.
Craig M- Where did you get the car from? Abercromby (now A***hold clark) have had no probs doing warrenty work on my car and although its abit early to tell the level of service doesnt seem to have been affected by the change over.
Yeah been driving the big assed bus about! God its ugly. Jonathan the answer to your question is Im not really sure! The noise was coming from the left side of the engine as you look at it from the front and Im sure the woman on the desk in the garage said accesory belt the last time it was in...
Cars back in the dealers again today for the secind time in a month for the same fault. They replaced all the pulleys etc and accessory belt the last time because they thought that was what was causing the funny/horrible squeaky grinding noise. Worked fine for a month and then it came back...
For the info of the Edinburgh area peeps. Abercromby Renault in Seafield has as far as I am aware been taken over by Arnold Clark so be prepared for the standard of service to plummet!
