Well they are £2k new including the frames so aren't worth that now are they? it's still 8 years old done 72k and isn't a limited edition or anything.
My mate bought a mk2 golf GTI with a vr6 engine in it that had over £15k spent on it and is in concours condition. The wheels cost over £500...
Thats fair enough, just from you're previous post i assumed you tried to buy it after the general concencous was it was a bad idea thus defeating the object of you asking for advice in the first place.
Condition is always the most important thing but for the money it would cost you could find a...
People like you get on my tits - why bother asking questions like "would lack of service history put you off?" if you're going to buy it anyway?
Save yourself a load of money and effort in the long run and fork out another £500 for a decent one with history.
Wouldnt touch one without history with a s**tty stick. It is a nice looking car but you've now idea how its been treated.
All well and good changing the belts to be on the safe side but you'll probably f**k up if you do yourself so that's gonna cost you £600.
Even then you might find that...
GTI 6 brakes might be a good idea? You can pick them up cheap as chips. With OE discs and pads and fresh fluid they were brilliant on my 6 so on a 106 / saxo I imagine they would be awesome.
IF I ever get another 1*2 it'll be a non silver phase 1.
I cant see any of the 1*2's going up in value. Maybe in 10 / 15 years time people will fork out £5k or so for a mint trophy (like with the Williams now) but I reckon the majority will just hit the £1k mark and stay there.
Yours was only 58K with 2 previous owners?
All the ones I've seen for less than £2500 are either high mileage, need a cam belt or need paintwork and thats just the faults that are mentioned in the adverts.
Yeah as I said you won't get a tidy 182 for £2500 you'll be getting a shitter. I'd rather have a cat d like that (asuming its been well repaired) for £2300 than some of the other tripe availiable for the same money. Apparently noone else on here would though.
