Disagree I used to get very similar economy to what I got in my 106 GTI think the extra low down torque helps. If your not driving like You were bullied at school all the time and your only gettin 25mpg I'd say it's broken.
I think this is true of the Phase 1's but the Phase 2's and 3's have aged really well (especially when you compare them to other cars the same age)
I agree though the phase 1's dated look is cool.
I'm going to be controversial and say that I think they are better looking than a 1*2
3L just keep filling till its all in or its coming out the breather.
Box is 3.1L but you never drain it all. I put the Elf Tranself NFJ - 75w 80 in which is the specified, but i know a lot of people use a 75w 90 semi synth which is fine and also a bit cheaper.
I ordered mine from here mate.

Arrived next day, its also the only place I could find that sold the proper NFJ Gearbox oil too.
Yes true I suppose he would only notice a difference if the timing was correct before he had his belts changed but you would hope the timing would be ok beforehand.
But yes like you say if in doubt get it checked. Think a set of cam seals is around £20.
bennn on GTI6.com but some other f**ker had taken that one on here. I'm crap at remembering user names so had to resort to my ebay one lol.
The skoda splitter is £18 delivered from here or less if you live near a dealership...
Re: ***How much is my car worth?***
Tbh I doubt you'll sell it quickly anyway. I'd break it if I were you as its probably not worth much being cat d and it sounds like you've got some valuable parts on it.
I like it. Will look immense with some cosworth alloys on it! Bet they will set you back a bit though! Is an upgrade IMO. Maybe not as quick or handle as well (but from what I've read they sound pretty good!) but it's newer and probably better built. Think that's the first one I've ever seen in...
Looks really nice mate.
I'm in a similar boat, think i've just grown up a bit and don't really seem to get to drive properly so would prefer something a bit more grown up and comfortable.
I think it would look better on some different wheels but thats all down to personal opinion. Looks a...
Decent low mileage 8L's are around £6k but that one is a pre-facelift pink one which I bet has a done a few miles and not worth more than £3500 - £4k standard.
You can pick up an 8P S3 for just over 11K now (few with around 80k for £11k) but £13,500 would get you a reasonable mileage tidy one...
So are you saying in your eyes it is worth £13,500 then? Appreciate the effort someone's gone to but if it sells for close to that money i'll eat my left bollock.
I bet its not that awkward a conversion and can't see why you would want to anyway when you could get better that out of the 1.8t...
TBH its way overpriced bet it didn't cost them that to build it. The car standard is probably worth about £3500 or so. Surely the conversion wouldn't have cost £9K? And thats excluding money they've had back from all the 20V turbo bits!
Saw a yellow 8L for sale not long ago that had the 3.2 V6...
Yeah I'm with you. I figured out how to edit my ad and now it wants me to pay £9.99 (which I already have before they changed the site). My Ad looks s**t at the moment as its converted it so there is no spaces / lines between paragraphs.
Fair enough they'll be some teething problems changing it...
