The 3 stage is ok but there are better products in the meguiars range. The step 1 (cleaner) is quite good but really needs claying before hand. The step 2 (polish) isn't up to much really imo and step 3 (wax) isn't very tough compared to their #16 mirror glaze.

Right, Just an idea I've been toying with. Unlocking some money in my Cup and buying one of these "cheap" MK1's for about £4500. Need about £3k to spend on various things so this would be perfect. Has anyone gone from a Cup (or ph2) to mk1 before? How does the ph1 drive differently to a Cup...

I've seen a 172 Cup's on autotrader with xenons,ABS,tc,esp,limited slip diff,leather,climate,heated seats,autolight you name it! Some dealers haven't got a clue!

How do the two compare? Once you've bought the stuff required the PC and the meguiars aren't that different in price.

Do you use the PC to apply the polish,etc then wipe it off with a cloth? or use a different pad on the PC? Is the megiuars version of a PC any good? Really want the america one though. Why don't they sell it here?

If you wanted a direct replacement you should have got a 172 Cup. The 182 is a newer much more refined car than the old Pug. We bought a F reg 56k 205 1.6 for £150 a couple of years ago. Just needed its bonnet resprayed. So much fun!!! Welcome

It's all down to driver!!!! I can't keep up with my mates 1.6 Astra round the lanes in my Cup!!! because he's such a dam good driver and pretty dam mad! I sure some 1.2 drivers could show up a fair few 2.0 drivers in the right conditions. It's been done before right Fred???
