Accelleration 'dips' when, err, accellerating..

When I accellerate (MKII ph1) the power dips or 'falls out' for a brief second in all gears, once your cruising it seems to be fine but when you accellerating it drops out. Also at stationary it idles terribly, shakes the whole car like it wants to stall!!

Any ideas?

The acceleration thing- could be a slippy clutch, slipping at peak torque?

It does it at low revs. It doesn't always do it, it did it about 3 weeks ago for 2 days and has started again yesterday. could it be summet to do with the ICV?

The idle shake thing, could be engine mounts i guess. Do you see alot of movement if you leave it idling with the bonnet up?

could it be to much fuel bein deliverd and choking the engine for a split second until its burnt

nar, the engine doesn't move as much as it should normally.

Is the ECU warning light lit up, could be a number of faults in that department?

no warning lights nothing to suggest what it could be apart from the dip and sh*t idling

Could be a hole in the exhaust or connector flange loose.

Poor idle, inconsistant accleration, I really doubt that would be an exhaust problem.

Maybe a leaky vacum hose somewhere if theres no ECU lights?

Does it do it when hot and cold?

Does it only do it for the first 5 minutes ?

Due to the emissions thing on startup the ecu has a 'cold' program which makes the car a bit jumpy for the first few minutes.

When I say jumpy I mean it has a bit of a flat sport around 2500-3000rpm. During this period the rev limiter is also lowered.

Idle is slightly higher than normal during this period IIRC.

Check the spark plugs??? Just an idea. Maybe air leak. Could be anything tbh. Need it testing properly by the sounds of things.

I will check it when I drive home tonight. The idling is very low and constantly moves up and down, it is not steady at all.

Oh and the car had a full service 2 weeks ago so the spark plugs are new and it has a new lambda sensor too.

Check MAP sensor and oxy (lambda) sensors... it's normally a mapping issue that's causing the hiccup
