Hi Ross - I think the no NCB will be your problem. It was for me before I bought my old 16v. I had to get a crap car first just to build up the NCB so I could insure the nicer cars I later had. Get your own insurance ASAP.
Agree Sawa172... had a guy in a GTI 2.0 golf up my ass today on M3. Pulled over, let him past then pulled out again.... man, I was practically pushing him along. When he pulled over and I went past his face was a picture. Hilarious.
GTi - I sh*t em.:devilish:
I was in traffic so only going around 60-70mph... never seen anything like it before. When my GF used to drive it she managed 44 but even that was loads highere than me. Usually average 37 ish.
:o
In traffic from Fleet services where I filled up, up the M3, along the M25 and up the A217 to Kingswood.
Thought I was gonna reach 50 but topped at 48.8. Couldnt believe it.
Im still on the Michelin Exalto which refuse to wear away. 25k and counting...
Ive had the judder looked at on a Service before but was told theres nothing wrong with it. Im not convinced though, but it may just be a feature of Mk1 172.
The first silver, whatever that was... Titanium?? Or is it Iceberg?? I know I should know it...
Car is fine - minimal rattles (if any) just clutch judder which its booked in for next Thursday.
They did a fairly ok job. had what look slike a dirty thumb print on the bonnet but you cant see it when its polished, only when the car is dirty and light hts it a certain way. Inside the drivers door they seemed to not fully respray a bit as it feels rougher than the rest. I didnt notice...
I had a 9 month battle with the dealer when I had the same problem. Eventually had the whole car resprayed under warrenty. They were very reluctant though.
Good luck.
I had slight bubbling and rust on my old 16v - I had it sorted for about £120 before I sold it. He did a top job too. This was at a small garage in Highley, just past Bewdley in the West Mids at the end of 2001.
Anyone watch it? I think it looked superb, and the sound inside when Tiff was nailing it was well cool. £27k is an awful lot of money though...
The RS230 came in for a bit of stick, a bit harsh for pne of the best looking cars around. He said it commited the cardinal sin of looking faster than...
Although the 6R4 of old was normally aspirated... when Group B was canned some of the 6R4s went in to rallycross and had twin turbos strapped to them.
Now that is a crazy car.
I got my 24K (minor) done at a main dealer and it cost about the same as that.
I had my major 36k done at a Renault approved dealer and it was £170 ish. That was just north of Southampton so not too far from Basingstoke.
The clutch is juddery on my mk1 whilst pulling away in 1st - it always has been since Ive had it (10k to 33k miles)
Putting a few more revs than you think youd need whilst moving off (only to about 1.4k ish) seems to bypass this judder. Otherwise after the bite point the revs do drop suddenly...
Sometimes complaining helps if they dont know there is a fault...
Recently my flight with BA was cancelled coming back from Cairo and they put us on Egypt Air later the same day. The thing is EA had smoking sections on the plane plus it looked like it hadnt been upgraded since the 60s. I...
I was thinking of changing my Mk1 172 for a cup - but to be honest after going to have a good look at the Cup the interior is horrid and the seats are way too poor.
If youre doing lots of miles miles for work like me then Id say stick with the 172. Performance gains arent enough for the drop...
I went in to have a look at the Cup on Saturday a I was thinking of swapping. I was asking about the upgrades too and the guy at the dealer (who actually had a Cup as well) said they had not been told about any release dates for any upgrades. He was waiting for them himself. That included the...
I thought Renault had extended the warrenty to 3 years for all cars (imports as well) registered after Oct 2000. Someone on here sent me a copy of the letter he received from Renaul UK confirming this.
Ill happilly pass it on to you if you PM me.
