I didnt reject my car but got a full respray from the dealer 7 months after first complaining. Previous posts are right, dealers and Renault UK will say theyll call you and they hope you go away - just keep bugging them and they will fold. Keep at them and dont give in.

Is it a Mk1 172? I have a Mk1 and Ive never seen my gear change light come on at all and have the same general Clio manual. Not sure if there ever was a specific 172 manual. It also beeps, but only on unlocking and when someone has tried to open a door/boot whilst locked. Ive never had it...

Ive got a 1.2 as my curtesy car at the moment and to be honest I cant wait for my 172 to come back :-( I dont think it is the 16v version though. Simply doesnt move in 2nd gear.

I sold my spotless 91 J reg 16v for £2900 back in April ish, but I reckon I was lucky to get that. On AutoTrader you see nice 94 or 95 for around that these days...

I had both my rear arches done on my old blue 16v for 100 notes. I can give the details if youre interested... it was a very good job I thought.

My Jan 2001 Mk1 has the gearstick icon second from top on the left side of the dash icons. Ive never seen it light up though... Ive never had any of the knocking described either so I guess the guy who I bout it off got it sorted before I took it off his hands... Enjoy you r motor, mate.
