I went for the GT TDI 130 PD Golf, equally as fun!
Had it Stage 1 Revo mapped (170bhp and 280 lb/ft!!!!!!) and gone for the 312mm brake conversion from the Mk1 Audi TT. With those and the Bora sport 16"s, my insurance is £460.....she bleeping shifts now too.
Even on the standard 130 bhp and...

Guessing you live somewhere in the MK direction judging by some of your pics? Northampton myself...
Might talk to you some time about tips for lowering my Mk4 Golf.......
Thanks, I do have a copy of PS CS5 Extended, but for basic editing of most of my pics I just use a programme called Paint.net (which is a free download)......
Been a while since I parted with my 172 Cup, but though I'd share some pics of my current daily bus.....
Its a 53 plate Mk 4 VW Golf 1.9 GT TDI 130 PD, got some GT badges for it and a debadged grill to paint and fit when the weather is warmer....all in good time though.
Pics taken with my new...
I spend up to about 20 weeks of the year away so get to see a lot of places......which has good and bad implications, some places good and some bad.I got the impression compact systems were all out of my budget.....as being relatively new...?
Guys,Looking at buying myself a Digital SLR on a budget as got a 'little one' on the way in the summer and want to be able to take nice pics but not spend too much.Used to be an art/photography student before I got into electronics/IT/access control so I know my way round a camera. Currently...
Contrary to my PM about waiting for your call, answers are as follows:
Suspension is a set of Raceland coilovers. Bought in a group buy on here last summer. Set to -45mm ish at the front and -40mm at the rear. Is about perfect for height vs speedbumps and looks pretty good too ;) was...
I love the way Northampton starts having proper meets after I've sold my Cup.......lol typical!
:(
Guessing Golfs don't count, but I might pop along to see if anyone wants to buy any bits I have left over from turning my Cup to standard.....
In the pictures above they are Speedline Turinis, 2120's. Same as the standard alloys on the Cup but I bought a new set in gloss white rather than the standard silver.
When I collected it, the guy didnt even ask me about it, more fool him I say, just wanted to see the paperwork was all there. The car is fine, just needs a bit of work as above and some TLC to bring the mechanicals up to scratch! The Golf I bought was a good deal though even without him taking...
Hi guys,
After nearly 4 years of ownership my 172 Cup, HT53 HRM, I had decided to move onto something with lower running costs as the Wife and I are considering starting a family soon. On Sunday the Cup was part-exchanged against a Mk4 VW Golf GT TDI 130 PD in Silver, 53 plate.
Word of...
Hello from another Cup owner!Wests Renault on here is very good and does a nice discount from standard Renault prices (and kindly posts your bits to you). I fitted the new style RS badge that now comes on the back of the RS Clio 200 and the RS Megane 250. Looks very smart. If you want to keep...
Ktec did a special run of there when they appeared on the market for £200 a set as I have them fitted to my Cup, They are not completely crap and do a pretty good job, however they are certainly not £800 worth of coilover technology. Their Ktec own brand ones are different from these as...
Spooky that you bumped my old thread just as I had it worked out. Is your car on high miles out of curiosity? My shell is on 107k now hence why they were worn out. Let me know if you need any more info!?
Finally found the problem after such a long time. Had my car in for rear bearing, so new discs pads and bearings both sides, and asked them to go over the front end again for the 3rd time in a year to solve the mystery of steering play. I have had another 2 garages look at my car in the meantime...
Had similar issue recently, take a look at, might help: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?572964-Unknown-misfire-fault-(possibly-cylinder-3)
Coilpack I bought from Europarts was £66 for a Valeo one, but they do a cheaper one too.
I had my Cup fail on its O/S/F gaitor in Feb as the larger retaining strap had failed (I knew it was loose before I even took it to the garage with my own pre-MOT-whatsmycargoingtofailonthisyear check). I thought "hang on thats not part of the test" but it is on the VOSA system as my fail...
FIXED
Fitted the Lambda I purchased and there was no difference so it came off again and into the bottom of the box (i was a bit sneaky and made it look like it hadn't been out the box otherwise I wouldn't have been able to return it, whoops :P) so returned that to an 'undisclosed' vendor in...
Guys,
Have been having stuttering and lumpy at low revs (below 3k) for a couple of weeks, hence I bought a new pre-cat lambda last weekend but as yet not fitted.
Driving home yesterday when hesitance/stuttering got much much worse. Still idles well but car vibrates. At driving speeds she...
I love the way he is instantly branded a fog-light using chav.....
Try looking for some 'Osram Nightbreakers' or some of the Phillips uprated white bulbs. My non-xenon headlight bulbs from Osram look much whiter than normal halogens, so worth a look!
See I'm the opposite, i really like the Black with grey, only thing i'm not so sure about is the black alloys, but I dont like them on any car! If that appeared in my rearview I'd pull over just to have a good luck as it drove past. When the 200 first came out I couldnt see what all the fuss was...
I've had my Cup for 3 years now.
I enjoy every minute behind the wheel. I am in no means a driving hero and make poor judgements etc like the rest of us. The lack of ABS has never caused me grief, yet, touch wood. The only things I miss are Xenons (which a decent set of uprated bulbs helps with...
I disagree to a point with comments on the spoiler. I think it looks quite sleek with a non-sport one fitted. I will agree an RS one (preferably a Cup/Trophy) one would improve it though, and de-checker-ing the bootlid goes for me.
Car looks fantastic, its stance looks great, sometimes I wish...
I had cambelt tensioner failure on my Cup back in September, I decided to go down the newer engine route rather than try to repair my 100k engine with unknown damage. Bought a low mileage engine that had recently had its belt changed, fitted it myself as I had the ability/space to do so. I am by...
CLIP is the Renault diagnostic system but is used to do ECU programming too.
Not true that all Sports have speed sensors, not BS. 172s nearing the end before 182s and also all 182s AFAIK use ABS sensors for speed and the g-boxes actually have no hole/mechanism for the sensor. Was warned when...
From what I understand they just use one method for determining speed, and as you have a gearbox sensor I would personally reckon that was the method on your car. When you bought the car did the speedo work at all? Seems strange that replacing it worked for a while then got worse again.....odd...
How handy are you with a spanner...........?
Similar problem with mine, as Fred said above with common fault, front upper idler went on my Cup. Sudden loss of power, engine stalls, when turned over made a BAD noise. Yours sound more like the other problem, Aux belt fail leading to it...
Is your speed sensor one attached on the back of the gearbox or is yours connected to the ABS system like the later Mk2 172/182. I see you have specified you have abs.
Reason I ask is I have a Cup and mine is located on the 'back' of the engine. I am aware later models have it elsewhere even...
