Help!
Having a strange symptom following an engine swap/new wishbones. Problem may be completely seperate though!!
When I fitted the new engine I also fitted a new pair of wishbones with new bushes and ball-joints. Had it all alligned properly, all was good.
Now finding the steering wheel...
Really?
I've looked on here and found nothing but I could be searching for the wrong thing. Mine does it only in reverse when left hand down partial and full lock. Sounds like metal on metal but I've had the wheel off several times and cant work out what the hell it is?! Very annoying!
Could...
One of my mates is selling his very funky 'steampunk' iPhone 3Gs case made by exovault. Thought some of you guys might be interested. (he now has a 4 with a http://www.elementcase.com/iphone4.html case....nice!!)
Take a look...
Liking the bright alloys fella! Loving the stance too, but agree with the masses, the little yellow stickers in the front bumper are a bit too much. Apart from that - ace! Was the direction my Cup was going before I developed a love for Carbon...... :S
Silly question, how have you fitted the...

197 Cup door pillar badge. The 172 Cup one is smaller so its not that one. Yours are not standard to the car and someone has stuck them on to yours as The Boosh! has said.
Yeah, got mine from the stealers in the end as couldn't get them anywhere else. Local motorfactors couldn't get hold of either the 10 or 12mm types (I have no idea what the difference in mm refers to, possibly the pinch pin/balljoint diameter!?).
Took my VIN number to Renault, they ordered a...
They are about 25 quid from Renault for the speed sensor on the back of the gearbox down near where the exhaust manifold meets the Cat, they had loads in stock in my local one.
If you have ABS the speed might be read from the wheel sensors. Depends on the age of your car. Do you have a Phase 1...
I have just put new wishbones/balljoints onto mine then allignment following that, used to be all over the shop, now much better. I hadnt changed the track rod ends.
Just had mine apart when replacing engine, no roll pin is required. Drive shaft should be 2 pieces (thats what mine has), extension piece from the gearbox to a triangular housing (for the CVJ with extra boot/seal) then shaft length is the same as n/s hub to g-box distance. Therefore driveshafts...
The full fat RSs come with Xenons, most people fit these 'projector' style headlights onto the Cups and also non-sports, however in theory to actually be road legal you need the washer jets which includes an extra motor on the washer bottle and the auto levelling sensor that attaches to the rear...
To set camber you will need the bolts as said above, and as you said the rears are not normally adjustable. If you want to get shims I would suggest you get a 10 minute shim for the rear left to bring it to -1° and get a 30 minute shim with the wider end at the top to bring the -1°24' back to...
Thanks fella!
I was lucky tbh that I dont have air-con, that would have made it more difficult as apparently the pipes are quite rigid. The powersteering pump is on hoses so that tucked quite nicely out the way so didnt have to refill that. Only hard bit was getting the driveshafts pulled out...
Ha ha, I talked to you about this before! If you are willing selling me the standard 172 ones you might have a deal but obviously defeats your "back to standard" plan.........are yours 15s or 16s btw?? :rasp:
Not a massive fan of the F1s tbh and was thinking of going down the 15" 2118 route in...
Yeah all the work was done myself, will admit had a bit of help on Saturday from the Mrs' friend's fella who is a mechanic......mainly as a second person to help get the engine out as I had rented a crane from HSS so a second pair of hands was required! Not my first time whisking engines out...
Well after my Cup dying from cambelt failure 3 and a half weeks ago I have her back on the road plus some upgrades.
After collecting a low mileage engine from tomtom172 a couple of weeks ago I have been stripping out the dead one over the last weekend and fitting the new one. After panicking...
Fair doo's!
Lol, Google is your friend:
According to the Urban Dictionary, "FAB" from the TV show "Thunderbirds" stood for "Full Acknowledgment of Broadcast," the equivalent of 10-4. Gerry Anderson, the producer of "Thunderbirds," was apparently known for these obscure catch phrases...
Not what I meant fella, obviously there is a smaller risk still but going on a specific 'Thunderbirds - International Rescue' mission is a bit different to driving about for days with it sat in your boot.
F.A.B. ;)
Not good practice tbh, container is not as well protected as the fuel tank and will not do you any good should you be involved in an accident. Thats what my dad has always preached to me, and his common sense genes are usually on the right track.
Just a thought.
I geneally fill up with a...
Had a mechanic friend over today and he suggested the same to remove head and see the extent of damage and get the top end rebuilt if possible.
Have spent some of the afternoon striping down the engine, currently have the left hand (cam belt end) engine mount off to see the belt, having...
Know how it feels back at'cha, gutted to say the least. Sorry to hear about yours too.
They say it comes in 3's......Cambelt snapping, Cat cost £230 at the vets and the Garage flooded with all the rain recently. Its not my month apparently.
Probable cambelt snap as I was driving this morning (decelerating up to a roundabout)........b*llocks. Thought I'd stalled it so stupidly tried to start it, and it aint happy.
Got recovered and now sat in the garage at home ready for a 'new' engine....well a 2nd hand one anyhow. Will strip...
Do you mean the front ones?
Arch liner has a 'bubble' of plastic to the front of the car and behind is the bracket. Took my dremmel to mine. Removed the plastic layer 1st then used a metal cutting disc on it to trim the metal back behind the level of the liner. Then painted on some hammerite...
Guys,
I have a Recaro Apex fixed bucket, recaro side fixings, sliding rails, an OMP clio specific subframe and a 3 point harness.
I want to fit the above but want to keep the standard seatbelt and pre-tensioner too for commuting and normal road driving so am not restricted by having to...
