I'm probably on my own here, but I don't think the gearbox is that bad, there's definitely worse out there. I drove a peugeot 107 a little while ago, if you think the clio boxes are bad, try one of those...
I think the clutch might be a bit difficult for a learner. I let my dad have a go in my cup, and even with 30 years driving experience he had trouble pulling away without spinning the wheels lol.
My backbox fell off last week, the noise it made was ridiculous! Fun at first, but leaves you with a headache. And almost everyone you drive past down the street looks at you with hate in their eyes lol. Quite glad its sorted now! But I noticed no difference to the way the car ran. I expect a...
The only things you should be doing to your 1.5 dci if you want it to remain tasteful are: Lower it, fit nice alloys, colour code various trim and fit RS bumpers / skirts / spoiler.
Fitting RS badges is a big no-no, especially if the rest of the car is lacking RS parts.
Don't think this has been done before...
Show us what you'd like your car to look like if you didn't have to worry about money, practicality etc... anything goes!
This is my conservative attempt:
My guess would be that you've damaged the ABS sensor when changing the rear bearings. Did you check the new rear discs to make sure they had ABS rings on them?
I'm exactly the same, its just because you know about all the little imperfections on your car. But other people won't notice the little imperfections, and to them it'll look mint :)
I recently had an emissions warning light come up on my clio 172 cup, so I bought a fault code reader from ebay to see what was causing it. However I cannot get it to connect with my car, it powers up when I plug it in, but just won't connect.
This is the reader I bought...
The chassis rails don't seem wide enough to me, I had my car slip off the jack after using them. So now I only use the rear of the subframe where the bolt can fit inside the jack for security.
Hi all,
This has been bugging me for some time now, my 172 cup has a metallic sound coming from the exhaust, somewhere around the cat / manifold. I did think that it was blowing, but there are no holes, and the cat/mani gasket is new. So now I'm thinking something is rattling somewhere...
My cup didn't have the MDF (previous owner removed it for watever reason) and anything you put in the boot would fall straight into the spare wheel well. So I bought some more MDF from B&Q, cheap fix, but it works, and you can't see it.
All cars sold in the uk legally have to run on 95RON, so I wouldn't worry about damaging your engine. I think higher octane fuels work better with turbocharged / supercharged engines, as they put the fuel under more pressure than with N/A engines.
I have a 172 cup and I can honestly say I notice no difference between fuels at all, I'd be very surprised if a higher octane number made a difference to a 1.2, it doesn't have the compression ratio to make use of it. Chances are its a placebo effect.
Haha, I only filled it up to the click. In my old fiesta I filled it right up to the top once and burst the filler cap seal when the fuel expanded in the sun. I don't do that anymore, the roads still stained from where the petrol dripped onto the road lol.
Well, you never know, one day the engine might need to be put on a hoist for whatever reason. And its better on the engine than in the glove box at any rate :P
