It connects to the back left of the engine (timing belt side).
I had this fall off my engine aswell, heard a rattling whilst on the M6, so I pullled into the services to find it sitting on top of my exhaust manifold! Slightly worrying that something designed to support the weight of an engine...
I'm sure its not the piston rubbing on the disc, would have probably noticed something was up without needing to look haha. I don't think I'll bother taking them apart until I buy new discs/pads. As said, it looks like its been like that for some time and the brakes do work so I'm sure leaving...
I'm gonna go down to the garage next week and get them to shove some more grease in the CVs and clip them back on. Hopefully that'll sort them out, and I'll get some new brakes in a couple of months when I've got the money. Luckily with it being a cup I don't have to worry about ABS :). No idea...
Thats what I don't understand though, the pads were new about 15 months ago, and the car gets driven 45 miles each day. The CV boot is an issue though, the nearside one isn't secured on either, bit strange when I look at the MOT history and it actually failed for the same problem in december 2011!
Hi all,
I was under my 172 cup this afternoon and noticed that the o/s/f inner brake disc was only wearing on the centre of the disc and not on the whole disc as it should be. Can anyone think of a reason why this may be the case? The n/s/f is wearing as it should.

I played this game the other day and ran out of fuel half a mile away from the petrol station, managed to squeeze 50.21 litres in when I got to the petrol station.
Hey guys, I've got a problem with the rear wiper on my 172, whereby the wiper blade won't wipe the top part of the screen. It doesn't seem to flex with the curvature of the screen. The wiper blade is new, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
Which bits the toilet roll? lol.
I think I first saw you in my fiesta, towards the end of last year when I was saving up for my cup, made me a bit excited haha.
I think my 172 feels pretty good up to the limiter, but I did come from a 1.3 ohv fiesta, and that really did feel like it was gonna blow up at the limiter, which was only 5800rpm lol.
If you're looking for an unmodded one though, that cup looks like its on aftermarket suspension. A couple of other things I notice are the headlights look quite hazy and the n/s foglight looks like its got condensation. Easy things to fix though :)
I bought my cup from good motors back in march. Can't fault them, they were honest about the car being a cat D and gave me a very fair price for the px of my old fiesta.
One word of warning though, they don't have a toilet, so you have to use a bush in their yard that isn't excatly private. But...
Re: Black Clio 172 driven by a gorgeous girl ;) East Lancs rd, Worsley 730 this morni
And you've shown your age with that comment, 'lad' is more of a metaphor these days, its not a reference to your age.
I think I saw this one for sale when I was looking to buy my cup. Didn't fancy all the work that it needed to rescue it from the previous owners insanity though. But you seem to have done a nice job of it (y)
The power to weight ratio is slightly better on the 172 cup, but in reality you're unlikely to notice it.
Generally the rule is the 172 cup will be a bit better to drive and the 182ff will be more comfortable as a daily.
In theory 10 bhp, but in reality you'd be very lucky to find a 182 producing 182bhp.
182 also has twin exhaust, different wheels, different exhaust manifold and a few other bits.
