My 172 cup that I got back in July was pulling right under throttle from the moment I drove it home from the garage. If I backed off the throttle, it would drive straight. I read all of the potential remedies on this forum but wasnt sure what to do as the car only has 34k on it and I didnt know...
Got myself a baragin hoffman complete system last week from ebay (£97 delivered) it arrived the next day and fitted easliy enough.
Now with a few miles on the clock it has worn in and has a nice subtle note and is a little bit louder than the original system
Are those cup shocks on offer at Renault Wakefield? My 'new' cup needs a suspension refresh and I would like to keep it standard with the exception of perhaps some eibach pro springs unless there is a reasonable price available on standard springs
Just returned to ownership of a 172 cup (sold my previous 1 5 years ago to make way for a Focus RS) and im having 1 or 2 little niggles with it - i know it's 9 years old and i can remember some of the common faults but this one has stumped me.
The trip meter is resetting itself most nights...
I got 90% contribution and 5% from the dealer - my car was 4 months out of warranty but only had 23k miles on it. New clutch fitted along with new box - £56!
Synchro damage - new gear box needed im afraid. Known fault with 197/200's - have a look at clio197.net and you will find out all about the joys of these gearboxes.
As title, can anyone tell me where the horn is located on my 197 please? It has stopped working - checked fuse (all fine) so want to see if there is something up with the horn itself.Any ideas on faults? Thanks in advance
Matt - I have to be honest, my Focus RS was not much more expensive to run than my 197 - mpg is shocking for what the Clio is in relation to power, my 172 cup would run 40+mpg easily on a run and always mid 30s around town - my FRS always averaged 26-28mpg whatever way I drove it - only...
Went from a 172 cup, mk1 V6 and 182 Trophy to a (280bhp) Focus RS - boost is awesome and torque is different league to the clios but I sold that and came back to RenaultSport ownership and now have a 197 GW cup - love the car, just wish i had more time to drive it.
If I could have found one...
Update on my issue -
Renault CS and Cardiff Renault have agreed to contribute 97.5% costs towards a replacement box and this will include 12 months warranty on the new box.
I have accepted this and can only speak highly of both Alison Bayliss from Renaut Customer Services UK and also...
It doesnt just happen to 197s, it is happening to 200s as well as my thread mentions, have a look on renaultsport community forum as well as the clio197.net forum.
My car has only covered 23k and the box is shot, others have covered far less than that and have had new boxes - seems an issue...
I would still recommend a 172 cup or trophy to anyone. I even looked for a 172 cup before I decided on the 197 as i thought it would be the safer option with regards to being newer, more modern and less likely to give me reliability issues for the mulitple years i plan to keep it.
I cannot at...
Wouldnt any of you push for a newbox to be fitted FOC? Would you accept your box failing like mine has?
If it was the clutch or discs/pads failing after so little use then I would happily contribute towards the cost of replacing as they are things that you expect to replace during ownership...
Greedy for what? I could understand if the car had 50k miles on it and was well out of warranty or if I didnt have evidence that this has happened to others with new cars.
It has been replaced under warranty with no quibs for those with new cars.
My point in all of this is these cars seem...
Lots of 'supportive' fellow owners on here isnt there? Why would you laugh at another owners misfortune?
Im not talking about a wear and tear item like clutch failure or an exhaust dropping off 2 months out of warranty - the gearbox has failed like it has done for others with almost brand new...
They rang me last night at 5:25pm to offer 95% contribution which although is very kind of them, I declined and requested 100%, I have also emailed a letter off to their customer service inbox so that I have a paper trail - -J-, I also mentioned in the letter some of the Renault staff you...
I have to agree with you that so far Renault UK Customer Services have been most patient, understanding and helpful up until they offered to cover 75% costs.
I have been clear and concise with them and have now emailed a letter of complaint as advised by my local trading standards, i have also...
Does anyone have Jeremy's contact details please?
I can appreciate your comments regarding performance car against 'rough' gear changes but thats not how I have driven this car at all and it has been fine up until now - Im inclined to think that its a manufacturing fault as there are threads...
thanks for your advice guys
Even if the previous owners had ragged it, the car is designed with hard performance driving in mind - track days punishment etc and the gearbox has driven fine for 6 months whilst I have owned it.
Ive not driven it in anyway aggressively and like you have said...
Hi Guys
I recently returned to the joys of RenaultSport ownership after a 2 1/2 year sabbatical (I have previously owned and loved a 172 cup, 182 trophy and a mk1 V6) in September after I sold my Focus RS - I purchased a 2007/57 reg197 Cup in white with recaros and spoiler, 21k miles and FRSH...
Hi Guys
after almost 3 years absence from this forum whilst owning a much cherished mk1 Focus RS I have just picked up a 197 cup in white - its the only car I wanted to replace my FRS aslong as it had the spec that this one has - Recaros/Spoiler/White
Im so pleased with it
December 2007...
Just got myself a 197 cup after 3 years away from Renaults (Sold my Focus RS 2 weeks ago)
I have just noticed that the drivers side tip/fin of my spoiler has been torn off slightly - is is possible to replace just these as i can see 2 allen key type heads that i am assuming remove them
If i...
About enough space for a rucksack!!
My old MK1 V6 had a weight limit on storage in the plastic tray which i think was around 20kg (correct me if im wrong)
Ad,
Defo had the cambelt changed mate, excellent service there too, i know its a long drive for some people but they are first class, my local stealership wanted £590 for the cambelt to be changed!
Rang Brecon Renault and they quoted me £423 parts and labour, they even use my local...
