Just returned to ownership of a 172 cup (sold my previous 1 5 years ago to make way for a Focus RS) and im having 1 or 2 little niggles with it - i know it's 9 years old and i can remember some of the common faults but this one has stumped me.
The trip meter is resetting itself most nights unless the weather is warm and i have done a long journey and I had this previously with my old car and a new battery sorted it out.
The difference this time is that the display which shows how many miles are left in the tank has not worked since i picked the car up some 3 weeks ago regardless of how full the fuel tank is, it just flashes -----. It still does this even if the trip meter holds its total miles, average mpg, average speed etc
Does this mean its something more sinister than a fading battery?
Has anyone else had this as i cant find this specific fault using the search facility
