I agree. I have the ktecs and they really give a nice direct feel to the front end. There is a marked increase in cabin noise/vibrations, but you get used to it in about a week. It's not that bad, but try not to be surprised the first time you turn the engine on after fitting.
If you are...
After my last track day the engine/emissions warning light has come on. I was expecting an O2 sensor problem, but when I plug the car into a diagnostic reader it's reporting a knock sensor error. Clearing the error appears to have no effect, on restarting the ignition the error returns...
I've used both on the road and on the track.
There's really not that much between them. The wet performance isn't quite up to the standard of something like PE2s but (in my opinion and sorry to anyone I offend) they are both fine in the wet and anyone who doesn't temper their driving style to...
OK - That's a fair representation of what they sound like.
I'm sure some people could live with that (not me incidentally I only put them on for track).
I didn't find them as bad for dust as some people make out, but I did make sure to wash my wheels immediately after the trackday - which turned out to be a good time to do it, as the dust just came off with a simple wash. I certainly didn't get this half way down the car problem that I've heard...
It's almost certainly circlip groove depth, it's really shallow, fraction of a millimetre.
Out of interest, does anyone know roughly what depth the groove should be?
Now it's happened a couple of times I suspect that the edges of the circlips/discs have also rounded a bit so unless I get the...
I will PM you with the details.
At this point I don't think it's appropriate to post the supplier on a public forum - however it would appear that there could be a risk of a faulty batch and if so anyone else with this problem should also make contact.
Bl**dy hell...
New discs & bearings about 6 months ago...
Since my last trackday my car picked up a grinding noise (see earlier post). Last weekend I had a new wheel bearing fitted to the passenger side rear. I was shocked that it would have gone so quickly, I didn't think there was any play...
After my last trackday my car picked up a grinding noise from somewhere at the rear. It only occurs when going round corners, so first thought - wheel bearings... One was a tiny bit slack the other seemed find, but I replaced them anyway.
Unfortunately the noise is still there and it's...
So close...
All done, made sense in the end, but the top bolt doesn't fit. I didn't get one in the kit and the one on the car has an integrated washer that is too wide for the recess in the top aluminium part... Hence there's not enough thread through the bolt to be safe. Guess I'll have to...
While i wait for k-tec to open......
It's the big plate that's got me stumped. Won't dropping it straight on top raise the height of the gearbox by 10-15mm? But then there is also a rubberized washer that goes on the bottom... Perhaps that spaces it out again?
Someone must have fitted one of...
Following on from my post in the K-Tec Dealers section...
Tonight I've taken out my battery and air filter. Looking at the mount I'm a bit confused about how you get it out and how you fit the bracket underneath...
Undo the big bolt in the middle of the mount (OK obvious)...
but the...
It's generally in good nick (although knackered) if you see what I mean. Sounds like it's worth a shot...
I've got a friendly garage who can help if I get stuck, but if I can do it myself for free that's even better.
How big a press will I need to get a rear bearing out? We've got a 1.5 ton press at work, but I seem to remember reading somewhere you need more like 5 tons?
And on the subject of sticky track rubber...
Was very interesting on Monday as it rained in the morning and me with my road tyres was zipping past just about everything on the track.
Come the afternoon and a dry track I was slower than just about everything with trackday tyres (and that was...
Used the same setup at Bedford earlier this week. Bloody brilliant, no fade, nothing just consistent reliable (epic) stopping power.
Quick wipe of the wheels immediately afterwards and they are fine.
However much I like them for the track though, I've changed back to road pads for the road...
Piece of cake to change.
I'd recommend the PowerFlex bushes - it really has tightened up the gear change a lot. I've not really noticed any increase in vibration or cabin noise as a result of the change either.
I'd thought that the team dynamics finish looked a bit too glossy (still nice!). Loving the flamer with the black wheels - exactly the look I'm going for, except blue car!
Anyone know where I can get some R888s fitted tomorrow (Saturday) within sensible distance of Cambridge? Do any of the mail order companies do Saturday delivery?
I'm going to respray my wheels in black, but I'm not sure what colour black to go for?
I can't decide if gloss black with laquer will tool too 'glossy' or whether some kind of satin or metallic black might look nicer.
Anyone got any pics to help me decide?
How is a front pad & disc change 1.5 hours for a (theoretically) experienced mechanic. Don't see how it should take more than 0.5 hours - less if you've got a ramp and air gun for the wheel bolts.
Haven't got any pics to hand I'm afraid... Basically you can't see it, so looking at the picture higher up this thread, if it were my car I don't think you'd see the exhaust from that angle.
Mounts were from K-Tec as well.
