I've had mine about the same amount of time as you. I used brand new exhaust mounts when I fitted it, and it's still basically hidden behind the bumper.
However inspecting it the other day, I noticed that the mounts seem to be showing signs of wear already. I might use the 'reinforcement'...
Still looking for some 15" alloys... Can anyone confirm the centre bore of aftermarket OZ F1s? (as opposed to the Ph1 renault versions). I assume they use spigot rings?
LOL at one which quotes : ALL ARTWORK AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL IS THE PROPERTY OF *************
ANY ATTEMTS TO REPLICATE WILL RESULT IN LEGAL ACTION.
Then they stick a big Brembo logo in the back of their photos. I'm sure Brembo endorse their product!
He seems to have good eBay feedback, but I just couldn't buy something from someone who's spelling and grammar are so poor.
Why wouldn't you take the time to write the advert properly for a car like this?
I've been after some 15" alloys for trackday use. Quite a few sets I see come with tyres with reasonable tread, but they are budgets... My initial intention was to replace immediately, but I'm wondering if it would be more cost effective to just take them and wreck them rather than throw away...
Oh, don't say that... After an eBay deal gone wrong (centre bore too small) I'd just convinced myself that I didn't want 15"s (for the track) and that I'd just stick new rubber on my Turinis.
Now I want 15s again and I'm sorely tempted by some cheap Ripspeed alloys from Halfords of all places...
So this weekend I poly bushed my dogbone mount and removed, examined and refitted by top engine mount. It seems to have improved the feel, particularly the gear change.
Annoying thing is, it hasn't removed the slight knock I get when releasing the accelerator when pulling away in 1st & 2nd...
I've got hold of a set of 15" alloys for trackdays. My immediate thought was to fit r888s but reading around I've seen suggestions that
A) the grip outperforms the suspension (std cup) and so you keep hitting the bump stops
B) the tyres exceed my driving ability on track (which they will)...
Just finished upgrading my dogbone mount to PowerFlex bushes. At the same time I took off the top engine mount as I was concerned it was also knackered (can't be bothered with passenger side mounts today ;)).
Fortunately on inspection the top mount looks pretty good so I fitted it all back...
I've been looking to get some more track oriented tyres for my 172 cup. Due to the relative lack of track tyres in 16" (or the massive saving to be had shifting from 16"-15" for the track) I've been trying to get hold of a set of 15" alloys cheap on eBay for a while.
However, today I've...
Are there any track oriented tyres available in 16" sizes to fit standard cup Turinis? There seem to be loads of options in 15" but that would mean purchasing a new set of alloys. Any sizes of R888s or similar that fit?
Performance-wise probably not... I think the cup racers use standard paper elements which should tell you everything you need to know on the performance gains.
However there's an economic argument - £30 for a filter that will last the lifetime of the car (with cleaning) or £10-£15 a year for...
I've got them on my cup. Can't think of another tyre that offers such an all round balance of price, dry performance, wet performance, wear, track capable. Yes you could probably find a tyre that beat it on a one-on-one basis on any of these categories, but not the overall package.
I've also...
Otherwise known as 'oh no, not another knocking thread...'
OK - the problem is that sometime after changing cambelt & exhaust my car has developed a small knocking noise. It only occurs when pressing the clutch after pulling away in 1st gear or accelerating in 2nd gear, only seems to occur at...
I fitted a Stealth Mk2 last weekend. It fits absolutely perfectly and didn't require much adjustment to get it sitting right. It sits nice and high, doesn't touch the car anywhere, doesn't knock on anything.
I don't think the sound is much louder than normal - a little bit more rumble when...
As a bit of an experiment I'm doing all my own servicing, keeping all receipts and taking photographs of everything I do. I reckon this kind of detail shouldn't cost me much if anything on resale on what is a semi-specialist car (i.e. not a 1.6 Ford Focus).
I'm betting my money on the fact...
Re: Painting wheels...
I did get new centre caps & tyres which greatly help the appearance, but hopefully these give the idea.
There a good guide on here that you can follow.
Another 2 tips - I've always found that you only need a very, VERY light abrasive the paint coat is much...
Re: Painting wheels...
I've done a couple of sets with rattle cans... They have come out pretty nice, you can tell the difference if you put one next to a professional finish, but when they are on the car you can't really tell the difference. It does require patience and LOTS of coats of paint...
