Is there not a switch to flick the lights from left to right? I never actually checked when i had my 172 ph2 but i remember on my puma when i had one there was a switch to flick on the reverse of the unit to angle the lights from left to right for use abroad.

If you want a better looking interior and CC instead of AC then i would say go for it mate. Exterior is subject to opinion as to what you prefer. However with the spec you listed for your car i would bet good money that it will be quicker than the standard 182 you want to change to.
