Cup ones will be wider, ET38.5 vs ET45 for trophy ones. Std 172 alloys are 48.5 I think so they look a little lost in there.
I think you really need spacers to fill the arches out properly though.
You're right, lots of people will tell you it's not worth chasing more power out or a 1.2 . Listen to them.
I don't know if it's possible, but it almost certainly not worth the time, effort and cash required for the parts and will lower resale value of the car. So you'll end up taking it all...
I use a set of 'a-JAYS Four' when I can't be arsed wearing my big sennys.
Sound is decent for the price, have iPhone inline remote and a cool tangle-free ribbon cable. Look good in white and you can pick them up for £30 - £40.
I paid £45 about a year ago from Currys at heathrow so probably a...
Cruised past me in Buckie while I was parked up enjoying an ice cream with the mrs.
Her words were "WTF is wrong with that Clio and it's saggy ass!".
Might take some convincing before I get one then...
First one I've seen in yellow. Looked freakin' awesome.
No mate, the one I know would've been in Keith and was traded in with the plate probably not the same one.
It also had a cup spoiler I think which is why I was mad when i'd heard it had been traded-in for peanuts, I could've swapped it over to my car.
Ok £300 is not so bad for set of 5 with fitting/balancing and a same-day turnaround. As long as the finish is good.
I've been recommended PPS in Inverurie but I think you need to have tyres off first.
Defo post some pics/review up about how you get on.
Did your clio come on a private...
How much are wheel specialist charging for powdercoating? (pm me if you prefer)
I got a quote off their website last week was nearly £350 for 4 16's. Need my turinis doing.
Nice car by the way. Monaco FTW. Not many about up here :)
Did some searching and got this info from various threads, just wanted to check i'm right here with the offsets of ph2 alloys:
All should be 16", 7J, 4x100 PCD, 60.1 bore.
172 5-spoke = ET48.5
172 Cup Turinis = ET38.5
182 8-Spoke Silver = ET45
182 Cup Anthracite = ET45
182...
Thanks guys, just trying to get her looking tidy.
Spent some time removing scratches from the bonnet today with the DAS6 DA. I'd swear the previous owner used a Scotch pad to wipe off the bird poo.
Got plenty of stone chips to cover up on there too. Will need to get the touch up kit for them...
Okay, so the Monaco has been a bit neglected over the winter so with the fine weather coming and the milage ticking on for 59k I decided to give it some TLC for the summer.
So first up I gave her a good service; oil filter and oil, air & pollen filter, checked coolant/brake/PAS levels, A/C...
Aright min, I'm in Keith too.
Have seen your 106 kicking about and parked at the station. looks tidy.
I have a Monaco Blue 172, usually filthy from driving in and out of aberdeen for work.
I work for baker hughes.
I've heard there is an ex-ness motors mechanic working as a rs specialist in Inverness, the previous owner of my 172 used him, although I haven't checked him out myself yet.
Might look him up when my belts are due next year.
I'm in Keith and often in and out of the office in Aberdeen when I'm not offshore. Also occasionally in Elgin or Inverness to the cinema.
53 plate Monaco blue 172 with CS sticker in the top of rear window.
Give us a wave if you see me about ;)
Yeah I tried lubricating the bearings, but it was still noisy, so I disconnected the connector and couldn't get cold air :( .
Next step I think will be cutting the motor power wires so the fan stops but temp sensor still functions, or a new replacement.
Video on how to replace in this thread...
Sorted out the bottom of the drivers seat tonight, 7 or 8 bits of torn fabric from some studs in the previous owner's jeans I expect.
Anyway I wasn't sure what glue to use but my Dad gave me some vinyl adhesive he had lying around as it's 'flexible' and should hopefully stand up to the seat...
Thanks guys, Skoda splitter is already on it's way lol.
Need to try and find some summer rims now so I can refurb the 172 ones for winter tires.
Any suggestions what wheels look good on a Monaco?
Why are these so rubbish?
Last night I jumped in the 172, put an can of diet coke into the cup holder and at the first left turn it decides to topple over and empty it's entire contents down into my centre console.
Managed to pull over and rip out the cup holders and mop some of it out, but...
So I finally got some time to give my new 172 a wash the other day (in the rain :S)
It's a 53 (Nov '03) 172 in Monaco Blue. 47k on it, picked it up privately for £2550.

I got it a couple of weeks ago nut have away with work offshore most of that time...
This is bad for your paintwork no doubt, but it's the method I use when there is 6+ inches of snow to clear off 2 cars at 5 am every morning.
Soft brush kept in the warm to avoid it icing up and sweep the top layer of snow off, leaving about half an inch of the solid icy stuff which I only...
Looks good, nice job on the lenses. That's one of the many things on by to-do list at the moment.
Might have get one of these 3/4 plates too, it's subtle but makes a big difference. I guess the're not strictly legal?
Hey SGB.
I quite like the look of the Zetec S fiestie, Have you got any pics showing the whole car?
Whereabouts in Scotland are you?
I've just got my first 172 last week, only got to drive spend 12 hours and 100 miles with it before I was sent away with work, but love it already :cool...
Cheers mate, is yours one of the last 172s then? I thought mine was quite a late model because it has cruise control.
Any pics of yours? i'm looking for inspiration to get mine up to scratch.;)
