it'll be fine.
Ive run std (std 172, NOT the smaller F7P) clutches on NA cars making good power/torque. One NA mk1 is making 249bhp and 209lb.ft and its fine. Though it has recently blown the 'box at Pod!!
What torque was with the 280bhp though?
It depends on maintenance and use. They definately arent the best boxes in the world.
If you still have the original renault oil, or slam every gear change, you will eventually get problems.
If you do alot of SQM you will eventually get problems.
639.41+vat is the retail price.
no one should be doing them cheap, hence RETAIL prices set-out in the catalogue supplied to traders.

oh and ACL bearings always seem to measure up thinner than they quote, so i'd be very suprised if you have a 2thou on a std journal, especially if its going to need a micro-polish.
I never said it was, what I said was from experience, with forged pistons, you have about 8mm of clearance at TDC.
Also based on experience is that fact that whilst lift accln is high around tdc, on the cams he is talking about i dont think its anywhere near enough to cause issues around tdc...
You will have more clearance around tdc with the high comp pistons...
On an F7R its about 8mm with high comps, and about 3-3.5mm with standard!
Are you sure you wont have enough clearance..
Besides, you could just back the timing off slightly.
I'd be suprised if they would to be honest. Worth asking though.
As for it not being hard, thats relative, it would be very hard for a first timer to get them right.
Its Wossner, not woosner!!!!
You use a piston ring filer, and feeler gauge. You need to install them to determine the ammount removed, 83mm is the diameter, not the circumference.
One of the most satisfying jobs when building an engine.
Takes alot (ALOT) of practice to do it right. This area...
Theres nothing wrong with decking the block to tighten up the squish clearance...works nicely, esp if you clean the block properly!
Of course, you need to have a proper measure up to determine what you are playing with, no point in just handing a bare block to a machine shop and saying deck...
