Loud thud noise when reversing up my drive??

Lower engine mount (gearbox mount). One of my Clio's made that noise under those circumstances and this was what it was. May be worth inspecting the wishbone bushes and bolts too, they tend to creak as opposed to thud.

    No Right Speakers

If they didn't work after you turned the volume up it would suggest you've blown the speakers or headunit. If they didn't work while the volume was turned up but do once it's turned down then the headunit is likely clipping the signal to the speakers or going into protection mode due to...

Inner Door interior card removal help

No not easy. They are held on by melted plastic rivits so would take a lot of time and care to remove without damaging the rest of the door card, and even more head scratching to re-mount them. I would imagine the rear door cards are the same.

    Faulty Alpine CDE 9828

Any time I came accross this problem there was normally one of two problems. 1: There was already a damaged cd in there the cd player couldnt read. (Now you may have two in there. I came accross a kenwood with three cd's in it one day, took it apart and removed all three cd's and it worked...

HELP: anyone know what this noise is

Well since you just got the Lambda sensor done i'd imagine the most likely cause is either the new sensor is slightly longer than the original and hitting the heat shielding or in due course of fitting the sensor the exhaust was moved/twisted untill it hits something. I suppose its also possible...

Download the instructions for fitting a K&N from their website. They used to have them posted on there and they were mostly photographic instructions.

    Idle Control Valve 1.2 8v

There isn't one. If its a MK2 PH1 1.2 8v the idle is controlled by the ECU which operates an idle control mechanism in the throttle housing. No valve I can think of.

Thinking of a new Clio... Wait!!

Just thought I'd let you all know that the DVLA has put up the 10 series number plates on its website. They are available to view now but are not for sale until December 1st. The reason I say wait to buy your new Clio is you can only put them on cars first registered after March 1st. My point...

    Reverse Lights Are Stuck On????

I would of thought the most obvious problem would of been the reversl light switch mounted on the gearbox has broken. Depending on the model of clio you bought the switch may be easy enough to get to. As a quick test, pull the connector out of the switch and see if the reverse lights still...

    coolant expansion tank

Well coolant is a mix of water and concentrate coolant, you can buy the concentrate at any motor factors including Renault who have it on the shelf. You add concentrate and water to the tank in the proportions stated on the concentrate bottle. As for the leak itself, it's not always from a pipe...

    ABS light and driveshafts

Where did the boot strap go when the boot came off. They tend to go around the ABS ring and damage the sensor. Also covers the ring and sensor in grease and lets all sorts of road crap into the CV joint, so yes the two are more than likely related.

    Pioneer screen broken

Halfrauds used to fix AV stuff using AEL (Advanced Electronics LTD) for a fixed fee of £120 regardless of fault. Fixed using manufacturer parts and approved processes. Might be worth giving them a ring to see if they still do it. I heard a rumour that the same company deal direct with customers...

    Focal component and crossover question

Easy way would be to remove the door cards. Connect the speaker wires in the door to the input of the crossover then run a small length of speaker wire from the crossover up the door to the mirror plastic and mount the tweeter there. Then run another bit of speaker wire from the crossover to the...

    Focal component and crossover question

4 tweeters would sound a bit much for my ears, i'd disconnect the originals. Original tweeters have components attached to their terminals to act as a crossover and the wires are connected in parallel to the door speakers.

Headlight adjuster penetration problem ooo eeerr

Connect the wiring to the motor, turn on the headlights and adjust your level switch inside the car untill the plastic rod is as far out of the motor assembly as you can get it to go. Further adjust the manual adjustment screw on top of the motor to extend the rod further. Now disconect the...

    unsure

Sounds like it’s the wheel bouncing off the ground under hard acceleration. Possibly due to worn damper or too soft a damper setting if you have adjustable dampers on there.

Here if you work in halfrauds then steal one of those adapters out of a dension i-pod adaptor after a fit. 50% of the time they arent used and they end up with a pile of them

lights on dash back to front?

Yeah my dash lights do weird things when ive either taken out both main beam bulbs or have blown both. So replace the bulbs as the person before probably had special bulbs or even HID's and your dash should be fine.

    Horn wiring

When you say re-wire are you just wanting to mount the horn in a new location? If so just extend the original horn wire to the new location of the horn If your talking about using the button in the middle of the momo steering wheel then you'll have to use a multi meter to identify which wire...

    Fitting an Iduction Kit?

Look on the K&N website. They put written and pictorial instructions on their site for each of their filters so if you look there it will give you a good idea.
  24. cliocc

Why you should clean your filter!!

Too much moisture will mean the oil won't be absorbed by the filter element properly and so won’t last as long.

    Smelly fans!!!

If you have aircon it could be the build up of moisture around the evaporator when in use has caused a build-up of nasty smelling bacteria in the drip tray below it. You can get many anti-bacterial sprays for this from car dealers or the likes of Halfords.

    Headlight problem

Yep sounds like you have blown both bulbs. You may have blown one and not noticed then when the second one went you see nothing. Cheap crap bulbs can blow quickly and touching the glass on the bulb while fitting will reduce their life too. Replace them and if they go again look into a wiring fault.

How to turn off starter button?

As above use the alternator output. This is the wire that you conect the likes of the Cobra intelli-start system to so the alarm doesn't try to energize the starter motor when the engine is running. Normally the wire coming off the Clio alternator is pulled to ground when the engine is running...

    unlocked ecu

Don't bring it to Renault. If the light is flashing in the dash replace the key battery first. My battery was almost dead and it locked unlocked the car but wouldn't start it. I also let the spare key battery go dead once and after replacing the battery the same thing happened but for a...
